Just cruising Pete Posted September 1, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2006 Just cruised on the 8/16 sailing returning 8/25 to New York Red Hook Terminal. Traveled with my DW and DB and his Dw. Had two mini suites on dolphin deck adjoining balconies. We had steward Chris open the divider and it worked out nicely. The cruise was very enjoyable and relaxing. I enjoyed the Casino which is the largest on any ship that I have been on. Even had two $3/6 tables. The entertainment was better than on any cruise I have been on. We particularly enjoyed Sarge a comedian from N.Y. He will be performing at Lincoln Center later this yr. He is a must see if you ever get the chance. Th Movies under the Stars seemed like a plus but the movies that were shown really didn't interest any of us. There were 800 out of 3000 pasangers under the age of 20. I think this was the last week before classes started most places. Wasn't really a problem for me. We had on mishap when someone called in a man overboard which turned out to be a false alarm and really didn't cause too much of a problem for most passangers and the captian handled the ordeal very well. If you drink coffee it is worth gettting the coffee card and get your cappacino double or better yet ask for a large Blue Mountain a very good coffee. The free coffee is a syrup that is not very good. Off course the cookies are great when they are hot out of the oven. But if you like seafood go to the late afternoon seafood buffet piles of split lobster claws and King crab legs already cut in half so all you have to do is use a fork to lift the crab meat out. Also the little neck clams tasted as good as the ones I eat in maine. We had the eat anytime plan so we did and and I mean anytime we wanted the food was very good. We had a standing dinner reservatins in the Davinci Diningroom at 8.15 and our table was always waiting for us. The service was good I did feel the automatic tipping was not good gave little incentive to produce excelent service since everyone was going to get their cut. We did tip two people extra our room steward and the waiter in the Davinci . I suggest you consider using express when leaving the ship it was so quick and easy. I did talk to several people that got staterooms that had a sewage smell and Princess didn't do anything for them since the ship was full. All in all I would recomend the Crown it is a beautifull ship and there is plenty to keep you busy.

thepinkpanther Posted September 1, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2006 Thanks Pete! We really enjoyed meeting you as well! George went back to the blackjack tournament to see the standings and got there to see one qualifying round where everyone won at least $5,000, so he was knocked off the board. I participated in the round after that and the round was done in 5 hands. :o Trying to talk him into going away during the holidays for my winter break, but he's still complaining about how the casino took all his money!:D We had a great time! Sandytoes Posted September 1, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 1, 2006 We always do the express check-in & out. Alot quicker. On my 8/7 there were also over 800 children on board. Couldn't tell. Loved reading your take on the Crown....Would you go on her again?
