Cruisin' Patty Posted September 4, 2006 #27 Share Posted September 4, 2006 Since NCL says "dress the way you want" and we have seen blue jeans in the main dining room AND on formal night as well...thats why people sail with NCL, its suppose to be freestyle. GoHuskies! Posted September 4, 2006 #28 Share Posted September 4, 2006 A skort is like shorts with a skirt over the front. I personally don't think that they are much different than a short, as you can see the "shorts" part from the back. Or, sometimes you can find them with a skirt overtop of the short. Just dresses up the "shorts" which you can't see (unless you happen to be looking up someone's skirt).:p The reason for wearing them is they are much more comfortable than a skirt inso much as you don't have to worry about what you do. You are covered :D Hope this helps ya guys out there :) If I wear my kilt, will the restaurant police look to make sure I'm wearing something underneath?? :D
2inTul Posted September 4, 2006 #29 Share Posted September 4, 2006 I think you need a vacation my friend. Thanks for your concern. Yes I do need a vacation. I would like a vacation away from people who arbitrarily, glibly and selfishly decide to ignore rules they don’t like. I hope that clears it up for you. To those of you out there that don’t like the dress code then complain to NCL/NCLA maybe they will change it. Until they do, if I have to follow the rules then so should you. That is just common courtesy to your fellow passengers. A good rule of thumb when trying to decide what is appropriate to wear in the main dinning rooms in the evening is: If you think it might be inappropriate then it probably is. Just my opinion of course.
derf5585 Posted September 4, 2006 #30 Share Posted September 4, 2006 A good rule of thumb . It is often claimed that the term originally referred to the maximum size of a stick with which it was permissible for a man to beat his wife from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thumb The expression rule of thumb has been recorded since 1692 from http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-rul1.htm

got2getaway Posted September 4, 2006 #36 Share Posted September 4, 2006 i'm just wondering what a skort looks like. Like longer looser shorts? A skort is a pair of shorts and a skirt in one. Its shorts with a piece of material that comes across the front to give the "skirt" appearance.

It is a portmanteau of "skirt" and "shorts". from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skort
