Celebrity credit card ----again

I've used my MBNA Captain's Club card for booking cruises thru X as well as RCL since they came available.

If you are redeeming for on-board credits, as soon as you apply for and receive a confirmation/account no. (can't remember what they call it) from MBNA, you can phone Captain's Club with the number and it is a done deal.

I was surprised at how quickly the credits have been confirmed and booked with minimal amount of effort/pain!

We have both a Celebrity credit card and an RCCL credit card. With RCCL you can eventually with 125,000 point get a free cruise for 2 for an oceanview room in the Caribbean or Mexico. We are using it for our first free cruise this January in the Caribbean. We paid $400.00 more to upgrade to a balcony. So, these things really do work.

Do you get more credit to your cruise account than if you requested a cash rebate for your MBNA Celebrity Rewards points ?

Someone posted the suggestion that if they were the same, then why not get the cash rebate, and get more Rewards Points by paying for on-board purchases and excursions with your credit card.

If you have 75,000 points you can get a $750 onboard credit. But with the same 75,000 points you can get a "companion fare" valued up to $1,500 on a Carib or Mexican cruise, ocean view. The cruise would be the better value, IMHO.

In a lower cat. 15000 pionts gets you $150 OBC or $120 cash reward.
