It is free to go ashore, and you can snorkel for free. You will have to "checkout" a life vest to use, it is free but you must give your cabin number.

The food is a BBQ and is free, if you want alcohol or soda you will need your room card (same as on ship) and you will also need it to get off the boat and back on.

FYI-I used my soda card while at GSC. There is a small "straw" market at GSC and you need cash to buy stuff there.

We sailed on the Dawn last year and are going back again on 9/12.

Tell your BF, if he doesnt want to dress for dinner, have buffet, breakfast lunch and dinner on the pool deck now and then. Its really good. For breakfast they have a bagel and station for eggs etc...

My husband loves not having to dress, I have to pressure him to dress to go to the restaurants....He would rather eat at the buffet.

His reply "IM on vacation!!!.. hahahaha

For breakfast they have a bagel and station for eggs etc... Wear a swimsuit if you want, No dress code except the reastaurants after 6. You could wear shorts in the restaurants for breakfast and lunch.

You could causal dress in the restaurants after 6. Slacks, dockers, causal pants and shirt, anything but blue jeans and tank tops.

You will have a wonderful time...

You could wear what you want other then in the restaurants after 6, bathsuits, shorts, tanks etc.

Tips are charged to your on board acct $10.00 PP/day for the restaurants and room stewarts. If you give addl thats up to you but not mandatory. The add 15% grat. to your bar bill/drinks therefore no need to tip xtra.

Drinks are about $5.00 - 6.00 each, depends......

Room service, we usually give them 2-3$ depending on what we order which is sufficient. I was told thats the norm...

We ordered room service everyday.

You are going to have a wonderful time.

Go to the ncl roll call on this site for your cruise date and you will get alot of answers and meet some great people....

I bring my own soap and shampoo, they have it in your room...

Could always ask for more if needed.

Have a great time...

June

Thank you so much for all your useful information!!! Got three more questions for ya, if you don't mind ;)

1. I know we're not allow jeans, flip flops and tanks at restaurants. I was wondering if we're allow or is it inappropriate to walk around the ship and enjoy our amenities in flip flops and shorts..cus after all it is a vacation. My bf is a t-shirt sorta guy and he was totally bummed out when he find out he has to wear slacks for dinner =). So, let say if i walk into the casino with tank top and jeans and flip flop would everyone stop what they're doing and give me the dirtiest look? Also, is the AC very strong on the book? Same question regarding lay back dress code applies to the shows??

2. I've heard the lack of soap in the rooms, so i'm definately going to bring my own but when it comes to shampoo and conditioner is it necessary to bring my own as well? There's so much stuff to pack and i only have so many bags =)

3. How much should i tip the delievery man if i plan on getting deliveries to my room VERY often (most likely every morning and late night snacks as well as lunches on day we're going to do the activities at the ports<-- some member mentioned that good idea to cut back on spending money for food outside the ship). I don't want to overtip and i dont want to seem to be too cheap. But, keep in mind i will be calling for delivery VERY often.

Once again thank you...you're the best ;D

Just jumping in here to tell you to have a nice trip. My group just returned from the Dawn 7-18/7-25 and while freestyle wasnt for us, I did enjoy the trip and the ship is gorgeous. You must eat in LeBistro. It's well worth the extra money and the food and service is wonderful. GET THE FONDUE at the end of the meal. You will be talking about it for the rest of your life!!!!

The pool on the ship is too small and there were a zillion babies in it with diapers which turned me and my friends off. I was lucky to have the pool all to myself when the whole ship went to Nassau one morning. It was fabulous. The weather will be nice and hot in August so enjoy. The spa "pool" is free like everybody told you and you don't really have to just use it for laps. Its a nice relaxing quiet place away from the crowds. Have fun and tell your honey to flip flop away all day long!! I even went barefoot once in a while from the pool to the bathrooms. Oh, and the soap is so nice in the rooms. Love the almond scent. Only bring a small shampoo and conditioner. DO NOT OVERPACK clothes either. Thats probably the most important info I can give you. DO NOT OVERPACK!!! No one will notice if you wear shorts and tops twice. :)

Hi Sillybutt:

Never sailed on the Dawn, so the only question I can comment on is the weather in Florida/Bahamas. I live in South FL and it is very hot in August - about 90 degrees, but it feels much hotter due to our high humidity - so dress accordingly and bring lots of sunscreen. It will be about the same in Nassau, maybe even a bit hotter.

Hope you and your BF have a great time . . . . and happy anniversary!!!

Call NCL Customer service or have your TA call, they will probably give you your room number, also remember your own vacation, your room stewart will introduce her/himself and you ask them to move the beds.

Most comfortable beds I ever slept in!!!

The put on nice down comforters at night.....

You are really pampered on the cruise and do what you want, when you want...

Thanks for the link to the rollcall, ill definately sign up =). I just did the adv registration. Where do i click on to see what cabin number they assigned for us? So far all i see is Category: BE, Stateroom: GTY (stand for guarantee, i think). Also, does all the balcony rooms have two beds? If i want one bed, do i simply push it into myself on the day of arrival or should i call to have ncl arrange it for us?
