Beth Posted September 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2006 I am trying to book our excursion in Grand Caymen and am wondering what time zone Grand Caymen is?? We cruise Oct.22-29 so will be Eastern Time Zone. Thanks for any info. Beth
twinkletoes4445 Posted September 6, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2006 Cayman does not observe Daylight Savings, and on Oct. 29th, 2006 it ends for those that do participate. So if you sail out of Miami (or eastern zone) and are in Grand Cayman prior to 10/29, ship time will be an hour ahead of island time (7:00 am ship time and 6:00 am island time). On the 29th this will change to island time and ship time the same (7:00 ship time and 7:00 island time). If you sail out of New Orleans (or central zone) and are in Grand Cayman prior to the 29th, ship time and island time will be the same (7:00 ship time and 7:00 island time). On the 29th this will change to island time an hour ahead of ship time (ship time 8:00 am and island time 7:00 am). It's best to find someone who has been on this ship you will be on for exact time info, but this is how our cruise worked. This is confusing at best. But when you do book an excursion, they know what the ships are doing. They will tell you where to be and what time.
twinkletoes4445 Posted September 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2006 Here's a website that tells you the current time in Grand Cayman. For me, I need a visual thing to understand. There might also be info at this site that might help you with your questions. :) http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=
