Passport/ID - Carry With You in Water

Hi All:

We are planning to take a boat/snorkel trip shore excursion on our upcoming cruise to the Mexican Riviera. I have heard that it is a good idea to bring your passport with you on shore, in case (god forbid) you miss your ship, or in the event of some other emergency. How do you carry a passport, ID, credit card in the water with you without losing and/or damaging them? I am concerned about losing or damaging something so important as a passport.

Any suggestions from veteran cruisers/snorkelers/divers out there?

Many thanks.

SORRY, DIDN'T SEE THE PREVIOUS THREAD ON ESSENTIALLY THE SAME SUBJECT. PLEASE DISREGARD. THANKS.
