Aussie84 Posted September 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2006 After reading the review on this forum about Pacific Star and it mentioned the cigarette smoke smell comming from the next cabin it made me curious. Can you smoke in your cabins? I didnt think you could. We had no ash trays when we were on star. Dosent phase me as i dont smoke but i was just curious :D
mystte Posted September 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2006 I just came off the Sun and you can't smoke in cabins - never had a problem with smoke anywhere not even clothes but we stayed out of those areas
aussiedisneyfan Posted September 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2006 Can't you smoke anymore? You used to be able to smoke in your cabin as long as everyone in it agreed.

Yes, I thought you could smoke in your cabins but only if it was ok with your cabin mates. I think it would be much better though if you were not allowed to, as the smoke smells not very nice.
karmac Posted September 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2006 If it was just a matter of smell of smoke then it should be ok as long as everyone agrees. However, I think as far as safety goes, it should not be allowed anywhere except on open decks. Karen
schwingpat Posted September 18, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2006 I heard that it was ok to smoke on the starboard side (I think) but not the port. Don't know for sure, but I think i was told that.???
aussiedisneyfan Posted September 18, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 18, 2006 I haven't heard that before but it could possible come from the Star. On deck 8 they have the casino, casablanca and another bar down the middle and enclosed walkways/sitting areas on either side. You can only smoke on one side there. mystte Posted September 18, 2006 #9 Share Posted September 18, 2006 Funny, maybe it's just the impression I got as neither of us smoke so never really looked into it! But there are no ashtrays and we couldn't smell previous smoke so maybe I just assumed that you can't, I would think it would be like hotel rooms but being on board and safety reasons, well might have been an assumption - wish I had checked it out, sorry
aliflem Posted September 19, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I got off the Sun on Sunday and lots of people were smoking in their rooms. The corridors often smelt of smoke and the smoke sometimes drifted into our room. They conducted a survey of our views of smoking on the ship and about the new government regulations being introduced next year. aliflem
bobsydney Posted September 19, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I can't understand why people would want to spend so much time in their cabins smoking ... as far as I am concerned, cabins are there for sleeping and showering/changing/etc, not for spending valuable cruise time. If the smell is getting out into halls, me thinks they are spending too much time in their cabins!! I smoke (travelling with a non-smoker) and much prefer to do so in the open air ... although I do have the odd one in the cabin. Bob
