Mickey12810 Posted September 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2006 We are scheduled to go on the Tulum Ruins. I was wondering if someone that is in a wheelchair and can only walk a little bit at a time would be able to go on this excursion. Any info would be great. Andy&Mary Posted September 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2006 I was there 5 years ago and there is a lot of walking involved over dirt, rocks, rough terrain. I found this review on the internet and the handicapped person had difficulties at the site, but may be someone will post recent information: http://www.gimponthego.com/dest19a.htm Mary
pba20493 Posted September 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2006 I was there in Feb. When you arrive at the ruins, there is about 1/4 to 1/3 mile walk to the gate. They do have a tram that will take you to the gate. There are paths that are not exactly smooth but a chair could be pushed along with not too much trouble. There are however elevation changes in the ruins. You may also not be able to bring a wheelchair onto the tour busses that take you there. The next thing is, will they let you take the chair onto the tender that brings you to Playa Del Carmen ( where you get the bus ). If i remember right you may not be able to bring the chair on the bus. I would call your cruiseline and find out who they use for the tour and then call them to find out exactly. Hope this helps you out. Tim
