bballprncess Posted September 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2006 I would love to know about the weather too! We will be there for the festival and I even tried my hand at translating the sites with little luck. So, I really appreciate the info about the major things to see! We are also hoping to catch the fireworks display from the ship as it sails at 22:00 when it starts. Do you know how close the display is to the port? Thank you for all the time that you put into posting on this site!!! You have been a wonderful and dear resource for all of us! Sincerely, bballprncess
BCNlady Posted September 20, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted September 20, 2006 The weather is sunny for the moment but I'm sorry, I've been reading the meteo and it seems it's getting worse, at list cloudy and perhaps some showers. Not heavy storms like a week ago. The fireworks on Monday are held on the other side of the Monjuïch hill wich is just in front of the cruise terminal, no idea if you will be able to see something from your boat. bballprncess Posted September 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2006 Thanks for the info! Is there anything else specific that we should see in the festival on Monday? Which day do you recommend visiting La Sagrada Familia considering the festival is going on? We have all day Sunday and Monday to tour. We will take a break on Monday to check into the ship and get settled before going out into the city again. Thank you for your help!
BCNlady Posted September 21, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted September 21, 2006 On Monday you will find at Plaça sant Jaume at 11h. Bastoners dance and at 12h. human towers (castellers) incredibly spectacular. No matter with the Sagrada Familia on those days. Bea
fmax Posted September 21, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2006 I was fortunate to start my cruise this time last year and read ahead of time about the festival. Although I had no schedule as to what was taking place, I was fortunate to be on Las Ramblas when a parade went by. Sitting with friends on Las Ramlas on the Friday another parade went by and then I was really fortunate to find out when Correfoc took place and was able to see it. An amazing spectacle. The area was extremely crowded and the noise of all the firecrackers was unbelievable. Frances
