Disembarking Time

How long does it take to disembark the QM2 at Redhook? We will Not be traveling Grill class. If I had a flight leaving LGA at 12:55pm would this be possible to make without much worry? I'm particular interested in NYC residence opinions.

Of course, this is only MY experience, but...

They'll publish that you can leave the ship around 9am. You'll actually leave a bit earlier. And the customs at Red Hook was pretty smooth. If you hire a car to take you to the airport, you MIGHT be able to get there.

We did NOT take a car to get to our train, which left around 2pm, and I think we had right around 4 hours to wait, so... We were at Penn Station by 10am.

Does that give you enough info to do the math for the airport?

Then again, you might be able to talk with the crew and get off earlier to make your flight.

Good luck!

Hi JPM06,

We live only 15-20minutes from the pier in Brooklyn, so we really didn't have any concerns about getting home but did go along with the instructions given to us. Also yes, leaving the ship, picking up at a well organizied luggage area and then to Customs was a breath of fresh air over doing this in Manhattan.

You will be assigned by the Deck that your cabin is on unless you arranged other disembarkation requests. Our cabin was on Deck 11 and got off at time 8:30PM. As you see below, we did get off earlier then expected.

8AM- Deck 9 Queens Grill

8:10AM- Deck 10 Princess Grill

8:30AM- Deck 12

9:00AM- Deck 11

9:15AM- Deck 8

9:30AM- Deck 6

9:45AM- Deck 5

10AM- Deck 4

Hope this helps you.

Regards,

:) ESLO

  • 2 weeks later...

I just returned from the QM2. We docked in Bayonne due to the Crown Princess taking the Red Hook Pier.

JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airport transfers are among the first off. I purchased a Cunard bus transfer.

We were told to assemble in the theater at 7:15 for a possible 7:30 am departure from the ship.

Customs and immigration clearance took longer than planned and by 8:15 am they were searching for a German couple who had not shown up for inspection. The ship was finally cleared at 8:45 am!

The JFK transfers were called almost immed. after that. The first bus loaded and left for the airport, the 2nd bus sat till 10 am waiting for the stragglers to arrive. Because of driving in from Bayonne and horrendous traffic we didn't arrive at JFK until noon.

When the bus pulled out at 10:10 people were still streaming off the ship.
