Staying on the ship while in port

Recommended Posts

We worked out, showered, and then each had our very own steam room. It was nice to spread out in the steam room and relax w/o "scooting over" for anyone. It was totally free and more relaxing than some of the "hard sell" spa treatments the ship offered. It was a great time- I had always gone ashore for excursions, I may reconsider next time!

Have a relaxing breakfast, go to the spa or the gym and have them to yourself. The pool is open and there are enough folks to keep the people watching interesting, but worlds from the struggle of sea days.

Oh, and yes....the bars are also open!! :D :D

You can even get off the ship a little in the morning and do some shopping, but then make it back on board for the afternoon.

Have a Great Cruise!

That's exactly what we're planning to do on our upcoming cruise, we're stopping at 4 ports and plan on staying onboard for one of them. Hopefully, we'll be able to take advantage of a special in the Spa for a nice treatment.:D

Staying onboard while in port is heavenly! They do have activities - just not as many per hour as on a sea day.

We enjoy going up to the pool. Having a million dollar view of the island scenery. Enjoying the nice breeze while reading a good book. Sipping a tropical drink. It does not get much better!

On the Mariner, they do offer specials in the spa on port days. Aslo port days are the only days they show movies in the screening room. We didn't find this out until our last day - at sea - and missed on it entirely. Have fun!

Especially on the larger ships, the days in port are the best days to hang out by the pools. They also run specials in the spa that are pretty good deals (just don't give in to the urge to buy the products they recommend to you after the treatment -- they won't tell you until you get the receipt to sign, but the moisturizers and such can run $100+ for a little tube). Also, on the 7/2 Voyager, port days were the only days they ran afternoon movies in the Deck 2 movie theater (and pretty good ones at that -- Master and Commander, Lord of the Rings Return of the King, and Cheaper by the Dozen).

We love stay on the ship port days.

We stayed on board while the NOS was in San Juan and loved it! We lounged by the pool, went to the Ship Shape Spa, enjoyed the Windjammer with no lines and the Promenade Cafe. It was the best day!! We'll do it again!
