Cruising Anne Posted July 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2004 I cruised on the Pride in 2002 and I know you are allowed to bring champagne or wine on the ship. Do people still sneak other things (Rum) on board? Can you still bring water or soda on with you? We are going to cruise on the Glory. Thanks for any info. kajsb Posted July 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2004 I sailed on the Pride in May 2003. We packed an ice chest with diet sodas and bottled water. We checked this with our luggage. We also took liquor on board and packed one bottle in each suitcase that we checked. Everything got through just fine and was still in our luggage when it was delivered to the cabin. lalapet Posted July 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2004 I'm not sure if this helps but, I read in another post that any clear liquer looks like water in a water bottle so we are planning to fill some water bottles in a little cooler and see what happens...Can't hurt to try. mercedes355 Posted July 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2004 Instead of pouring the rum into water bottles, just buy the Parrot Bay or Captain Morgan's. These both come in plastic "flasks". I packed both of these in my checked luggage and had no problems.
DreadPirateRobert Posted July 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2004 I've brought my own rum on several trips now and never had a problem. I was going to do all the sneaky stuff like cleaning out mouthwash bottles etc but just decided to wrap my booze in a big pillow my DW brings along. Never been questioned, never spilled a drop. p2lockhart Posted July 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2004 I always buy alcohol that comes in plastic bottles at the liquor store because they are lighter and won't break. I pack a an extra large suitecase full and check it with no problem.
Ernie G Posted July 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Just returned from our first Carnival cruise. Took on vodka, khalua, and whiskey, with all the mixers including fresh limes. Left them all on the counter and the cabin steward iced down the limes daily for use. We take our own alcohol every cruise (9 so far) and nothing has ever been said. We also take bottled water (about 4 to start) and soda's. We replenish those in port, as needed. Hope this helps.
GLW513 Posted July 15, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Until I read this post on another cruise review site I thought that I had seen and heard it all. This guy claims that he hollows out his wife's artificial leg....and it will then hold 9 beers. Once on-board the ship, he takes a large cork screw and bores a hole into the leg and inserts a beer tap....Folks I am not making this up! I replied asking him if his wife had to sit around while he used her leg as a beer keg! I also asked him how long the leg kept his beer cold. DreadPirateRobert Posted July 15, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Man, I gotta call "BS" on that one! Sounds like someone had about 9 beers before they cooked up that story.
Vicar Posted July 15, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2004 I have heard of people who drink like they have a hollow leg .... but this is ridiculous *LOL*
tutak Posted July 15, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Its too bad that he is not the one with the wooden leg since he already has a tap.
frameking Posted July 15, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Oh, I'm sure the beer tastes like a real award winner by the time he drinks it... nasty
Cruising Anne Posted July 16, 2004 Author #13 Share Posted July 16, 2004 I think I will just stick with the plastic bottles of Parrot Bay. Is there fruit punch available all day? Thanks for all the "interesting" replies!!!
