Stingray sandbar and SCUBA?

Hi All,

The wife and I are wanting to do Stingray sandbar and also get a one or two tank dive in. Are there dive sites near the sandbar? How is the diving in Grand Cayman in general? We're on the Carnival Miracle in Winter 2007 and we're wondering weather or not to book these excursions through them or independently. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much. :D

It is fairly shallow at the sandbar and there are usually mobs of people there so I wouldn't recommend a dive there, though, there is another location where divers go for stingrays that is about 12-15 ft deep, supposedly nearby. Maybe someone else can help with that one. Cayman Islands are probably the premier scuba site in the Caribbean. Extremely clear waters with tons of coral reefs and walls to dive. There are many dive shops that will set something up for you. You have chosen well. Grand Cayman is a diving Mecca!

It looks like shoretrips.com offers a dive @ stingray city which is far from the snorkling site. Anyone know anything about this trip? Would be nice to dive there and then go somewhere else. I think I'll contact them and see what they offer.

I don't know about that particular trip, but I can tell you that I have used Shoretrips.com a number of times and they are fantastic. I've never had any trouble and all the tours have been wonderful. I highly recommend any shortrips tour.
