Golden Princess Skype?

We are going on the Golden Princess Nov. 10 Rome to Egypt, daughter and I would like to talk to wife who can not go on the trip. Has anyone used skype on their laptop to talk from the ship wireless area to back home? I heard it is free to use skype for computer to computer and cheap to use it for computer to land based phone. We are very excited about our trip and love this website!

I just got off the Golden Princess last Saturday. Yes, I was able to use skype to stay in touch with my kids. You can use your laptop in the atrium (decks 5, 6 and 7). Rate is $0.35 per minute.

My family is an avid user of skype. We even use it to talk to our kids while at work (as opposed to talking to them on the phone).

It was a great way for my husband and I to see our children even while on the ship 14 days.
