Suburban Drudgery Posted September 30, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Seems like a dream job with tons of travel(to the same place) and good hours (24/7). What college degree do you need and do you need to be a comedian (just asking)? My nephew would be great for a job as CD. TIA:p
jw4jg1mg2eg1 Posted September 30, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2006 If you go to carnivalentertainment.com you can read a little about several CD's. Good Luck & Happy cruising!!
LHP Posted September 30, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2006 Seems like a dream job with tons of travel(to the same place) and good hours (24/7). What college degree do you need and do you need to be a comedian (just asking)? My nephew would be great for a job as CD. TIA:p This is one of those professions ( I hate to call them jobs~~~because this is not something you do just for the money) where someone has to be a natural to be good. You can't "learn" to be a people person....juggle 1,000 things without it stressing you out....be "up" at a moment's notice....remember 1,000's of passengers names each week (and the names of their family members) and most importantly, inspire your staff (under difficult circumstances, like being away from home) to be their best every day. Since "entertaining" is one of the many things a good CD has to do....your nephew would have to have a talent (like singing) to build his "stage presentation" around. You also do not "start" as a cruise director. Generally, you start as a Social Host ...but there are some ( I believe it was Risa) who actually started as a cocktail waitress. Good luck to him!!
