FoxyTerrier Posted July 13, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted July 13, 2004 Maybe if there are enough interested people a group could form in the game room for a friendly game.
peaches from georgia Posted July 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2004 My DH asked the Maasdam's Casino Mgr. about Texas Holdem. He said in TH each player is not playing only against the dealer/house, therefore it's not suitable for a casino.

elmorejj Posted July 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2004 And you know Vegas and AC are going to get their big cut! Anytime you play any form of poker you are playing against your fellow players as well as the house...what`s the difference?.....jean
peaches from georgia Posted July 14, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 14, 2004 I have no idea, never played the game. I can only tell you what the answer was when DH asked about playing TH. We need to find out what other casino mgrs. on other HAL ships are saying.

Atleast not in the Casinos around here. I don't remember exactly, but the house takes a percentage of the big blind. Some places takes a precentage of the final pot. -Jimmy

peaches from georgia Posted July 14, 2004 #12 Share Posted July 14, 2004 on our 54 day cruise we played every sea day. and we are looking forward to doing it on this years cruise. it can be done 1. Were you playing in the ship's casino with the dealer or was it a private group in a card room? 2. Was it a HAL ship? If so, which ship?
gizmo Posted July 14, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 14, 2004 This game is something Hal should consider adding to their casinos. TV has made it very popular. Staufj22 is correct. Casinos take their cut from the Blind and the Pot. Other poker games are handled the same way in casinos, they get their cut from the Pot.
Roadwork Posted July 14, 2004 #14 Share Posted July 14, 2004 This game is something Hal should consider adding to their casinos. TV has made it very popular. That would be wonderful if Holland added to their casinso.

alsas Posted July 15, 2004 #16 Share Posted July 15, 2004 we played in the lido. yes it was a private game but we offered entry to anyone.hals prinsendam. the casino started to offer a 7 card stud game to be in competion with us but had little response(offered free tee shirts etc.)i think your point that big tourny on hal should give them some clue that we want it. we played a small game.hope this helps. happy sailing
cariboudon Posted July 15, 2004 #17 Share Posted July 15, 2004 Try these guys. You'll have all the hold'em you can stand. http://www.classicpokercruises.com/ We leave SEA on Saturday for 7 days of poker. The house makes money off the rake, usually 10% of the pot up to 4 or 5 dollars.

peaches from georgia Posted July 15, 2004 #19 Share Posted July 15, 2004 I would suggest anyone interested in playing TH on a HAL ship discuss it with the Casino Mgr. on your next cruise. I don't have a clue what they've heard of. I play slots. I only heard the question asked and answered and was relaying what was said on the Maasdam.
