AmberTeka Posted October 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2006 I am so thrilled my hair is still standing straight up. My DH and I are going on the Legend 11/8 to Barbados, St. Marten and Martinque. I have read romance novels where Barbados is the setting and of course Josephine was born in Martinque. It is a dream come true!!! We got a good deal on one of the 5000 balconies on the Upper Deck. We understand that the lifeboats are on the deck below and we can not see straight down but can see the sea view. If it is a bad cabin--please tell and I will upgrade. This is a once in a lifetime trip--celebrating my 60th. birthday and while of course, I don't look it for a second.......it is a milestone. Any information on the Legend will be appreciated. It feeds my excitment and anticipation is part of the fun of a cruise! We eat at 5:45 because we booked late and did not want to eat at 8:00. We have never eaten that early before....and it seems like lunch was half a millisecond before... but we will manage to tuck in I am sure. DH likes the casino and I like the shows and Bingo and we turn into pumpkins at about 11 or so. I am just tickled pink at getting to go. Does it show? BiggerBob Posted October 11, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2006 Hi AmberTeka Sorry I don't have the answer to your question about the balconies. We are also on the Upper deck cabin # 5299 for the November 24th sailing. First time with Carnival so we too are very excited. I am very curious as to what you are planning for your ports, as we will be visiting the same ones.:) Time is flying and will be here before we know it:p
D4 Posted October 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2006 I can help you out with info on the cabin. It is a 7A obstructed balcony. We were in one on the Miracle in June (same ship layout.) It was great. If you look at the deck plan, try to avoid cabins at the first 3 life boats on either side. Those lifeboats are taller than the rest of them and would obstruct your view more. We had one farther back. As long as you didn't look down, it was a great view. I took beautiful sunrise and sunset photos and I just had to use the zoom a little bit to get past a rope that is above the lifeboats. It was a great deal! Also, just remember that your dining time is only a request. They may assign you a different time. You'll find out when you board.
AmberTeka Posted October 14, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted October 14, 2006 In the Bahamas, I hope to take the cruise that takes you around the Island--talks about history and shows some beach homes (Hello Anna Nicole!). A lady I knew took that tour and she said it was good. I have seen the boat and it looks safe and sturdy. In Barbatos(sp) I hope to take the Island history tour. It seems to be a long one but my DH and I are both former teachers and we love that history lecture stuff. I did not see the Rain Forest for Martinque. I hope it is not sold out. I taught Georgraphy for years--taught the ecology of the Rain Forest--yet I have never seen one. I understand that tour is pricey but well worth the money. I enjoy hearing the history of the Islands--seeing the lovely flowers---and everytime I get home--I could kiss Interstate 75. I wish every person in the USA could be taken to other nations just once in their life. That sounds so serious but God Bless the USA.

serene56 Posted October 14, 2006 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2006 it will depend on where your balcony is for what you see with a lifeboat-- if you are between two lifeboats-- thats the better view. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2656775870097515536lsubTD here is the obstucted view-- the man is standing on the 7A balconies. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/1387235121000485065dzyGPY
Catrin Posted October 14, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2006 I do not have any info about the cabins... I am sure some are more blocked than others.... luck of the draw I guess. BUT>> I wanted to tell you to have a wonderful time! We loved this cruise .. we went on Last November and had a blast! We LOVED Barbados! We took a 4x4 tour to Paradise Beach - through the Sugar Cane Fields and Jungle - it was a blast! We loved StMarteen too! We are returning there next year to see more. We were dissapointed in Martinique... but our fault, since we did not book a tour. We know better next time to book a tour to see this beautiful island. Have FUN! mainer208 Posted March 7, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2007 This is on the Miracle but the poster mentioned the best view is "between" the lifeboats. Would cabin 5184 be such a cabin? thanks!
