Joedog Posted July 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2004 Hi, We were booked as a Guaranteed Category BC on the July 24th sailing and just got our cabin assignment (off the immigration form). We have been assigned cabin 6012 which is a Category AA according to the HAL website. Does anyone know what the difference is between a Categories BC, BB, BA, AA & A? Is it just location / deck? Or are there cabin difference that are not apparent on the HAL website? At this point it will not make a difference to our cruise, but we are curious. Stevesan Posted July 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2004 According to HAL, they're similar sizes with the major difference being location/deck. There are a few handicap cabins that are larger which is evident in the layout diagrams. Deluxe Verandah Outside Deluxe Verandah Outside Staterooms include two lower beds convertible to a queen-size bed, bath & shower, sitting area, private verandah, floor-to-ceiling windows. Approximately 254 square feet including verandah Category A, AA, B, BA, BB, BC http://hollandamerica.com/fleet/fleetHome.do?ship=zu
Candy Posted July 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2004 I'm not absolutely certain, but I believe the BC cabins have solid balcony railings instead of plexiglass, so you cannot see the ocean when sitting down. You might wanna call your TA or HAL to verify this.
hdawson Posted July 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Candy. I think the cabins with the solid steel panels are Cat B forward on upper promenade deck. I too am booked BC for Oct 2nd on Zuidy. BC indicates a gaurantee balcony cabin. Actually there is no BC cabin category.
taszmom Posted July 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2004 The BC cabins are forward on the Upper Prom Deck, there's only 4 of them, so that's why they make them guarantees.
