Bucky3 Posted November 5, 2006 #351 Share Posted November 5, 2006 I think it is amazing that you take the time to answer each of us every day! Just wanted to say we did the Inside Passage in May 2006 from Vancouver, May 17-24. I won't say it wasn't pretty cool, but we had not a drop of rain in any port and sunny blue skies EVERY day. A little rainy mist on sailing days. We were blessed with perfect weather & hope you will be too. We Look forward to your continuing journey! JotWorld Posted November 5, 2006 Author #353 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Bamboo Beach Club Report - Wow, what a Deal, Docked at Main Pier and didn't even need a shuttle, it is right next to the Ship:D Walk out to the end of the Pier & go 500 to 1000 ft & your there. We Stopped under the first set of Almond Trees on the beach, Nice big round leaves, great shade, Very Friendly Staff. They brought us Loungers with nice cushions, Drinks one right after another, even two at a time, food per your request, BBQ chicken, cut sausages, cut fruits, breads. The Drinks: Rum Punch, Beer & others were excellent, Not watered down, better than at Passion Beach at Cozumel, Drink wise. Nice Clean beach, part of the Public Beach, but roped off Private,Brand New Operation only about 1 year in operation per Ilen the owner/Mgr he was there & talked with him some, very nice. It was never used by the Cruise Ships b/4, it is priced Real Low to get it going & I would highly recommend it to anyone. The postives cut...... Sorry, don't know how to turn this underline off. We did Vancouver/Inside Passage a few years ago. Second the White Pass Railroad -- fantastic. Was up early first morning, very few people out on deck, and a school of Orcas was alongside our ship, escorting us, and dancing. Wonderful sight!! I think God lives in Alaska, the light is so incredible. You will truly enjoy the cruise, and maybe you'll take us back??? Again, my gratitude for bringing us along. Very Close to ship, you sit at the beach, great Breeze, across the Bay, the Lovely Coral Princess, right there to view & Photograph, water sports of all kinds to rent at the pier, Para Sailing (Guess who did this for the first time, Yup Irene), 100 to 150 ft in the Air over the Back of the Coral Princess much higher than the top deck, WOW was I Proud of Her, and she Doesn't swim:eek: Brave Girl:D $55.00 for about 10 -12 minutes in the Air, a good price. Got some Great PIC's of this all from the Boat that pulled her;) You can get there 1st thing in the AM & stay, eat & Drink until the Ship leaves, 5 min walk. Total Flexibility! This is a must try for anyone who like a day at the beach, Comfortable Loungers, Service, Shade or Sun, Service Drinks, Service, Food, Service(Did I Mention Service) Of course I tip Regularly, but the other near us didn't at all and they still got great Service, Maybe we got a little better;) . JotWorld Posted November 5, 2006 Author #359 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Thanks for all your reports from the Coral. I was on the Panama Canal cruise last year. Is the Bamboo Beach Club in MoBay? Thank you Not Sure what it is called, but it is the Bay that you dock at the Main Pier, right there to the Port side(Left side) as the Ship Faces into Land(Ocho Rios). A Very Lovely Bay, with the ship in the back ground, Beautiful, No Need to get on a Shuttle, Taxi or anything, Not a problem even with my limp;) , about the Length of the Ship Walk to it, less than we walk sometimes just to get on a Bus!:D You're very Welcome & thanks for coming along! 2Ports Posted November 5, 2006 #362 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Yep, things are settling back down now...well, a little. More time to read and post. BTW, I lied to you at breakfast that last morning - I do have another cruise booked :D - the Fantasy out of NOLA, Jan. 8th. (We'll be in GPT residence over the holidays) Still a secret from Mrs. 2Ports & 2Ports Jr., so... ;) High tea was only on sea days, I believe. "MoBay" is SH for MOntego BAY; Coral stops in Ocho. Italian, Continental (formerly "French"; same menu), International (a hodgepodge; nothing really "international" about it) Carribean (not so much, but still tasty stuff), the rest were the same as last season with maybe 1 or 2 changes each night. Food tip: Our waitress (Danielle from Romania - fabulous!) told us you could order from the dinner menu from room service during dinner hours (~530p - 9p) so we ordered shrimp cocktails and put them in our fridge for breakfast - my idea of "Ultimate Balcony Breakfast" for the price of a tip! Saw no doors decorated last trip except for an amazing number of "Happy Birthday" and "Happy Anniversary" balloons - we had both. Bill: Absolutely do NOT miss the Yukon/White Pass RR trip. Another tip re: the Mount Roberts Tramway: if you can't see the top of the tram, you can't see anything when you get up there. Also, the ticket is good for the whole day; buy one and share. (THAT'll teach 'em to tax the tourons! So there, JolleyRoger!:p ) You wanna see monkeys etc.? I highly recommend Oscar Brown in Costa Rica - we had an incredible day with him and his nephew Roger. Ziplining, Bannana plantation, Tortuga Canal, lunch on the beach, tour of the area, plus actually getting to hold monkeys, sloths, and baby alligators! Not to mention beating off a couple of very agressive Coati Mundis. Thanks for the thread, Bill - it makes being here slightly less painful :( . All the best to you & Irene! Escargot: Superb. Lobster: Excellent, not that big, but not real small. Had 8, myself. King crab: sweet, but WAY salty. Shrimp: Couldn't get enough. Fish overall: Yummy! Beef: OK, better than most cruise ship beef. On Princess, "Rare" is "Blue" - I think it's a British thing. Pork & Lamb: Why bother? Rice: well prepared, but they lied - all the same rice, not Jasmine or Basmati as claimed on some menus. Same rice even in the Sushi  . (Lunch buffet, lido forward, 2nd and 8th or 9th day) Pasta: well, duh. Potatoes: Ubiquitous, mostly left untouched. Soups: Yessss!!! Pizza: Second only to Carnival  , but only offered from noon to 7p; take what they got - special requests are almost out of the question. cat0341 Posted November 5, 2006 #369 Share Posted November 5, 2006 Just a note on Coral going to Ocho.........The Coral does not always go to Ocho. Our Dec 2 cruise will go to Montego Bay instead of Ocho. Don't know if our cruise is the first one to change or the second and don't know how many times they will go there before switching back to Ocho. Guess Montego Bay wants their fair share of tourists.
