Hi,

Never cruised Carnival, but will be joining family on the 2/19/05 Triumph Western Caribbean trip.

We are NCL fans and dont know much about Carnival or the Triumph. Any help is appreciated of course.

Thanks

Any day cruising is better then a day at home or work.

For one your cabin will be biggen then what you find on NCL. What category did you book at?

I have sailed Carnival and Royal. I loved everything about every one of my cruises. I think that Carnival has a better choice for me for night time activites.

Hi, thanks for responding.

I booked an 8A and was upgraded to 8B (I declined the 8C to get a larger balcony...). I know that the room will be bigger than the Sky, but nothing will beat the OS on the Norway... it was really big. :)

I look forward to some good night life...

I'm a NCL fan also but have taken 3 Carnivals. I went on the Triumph this past May and it was wonderful. Ship was very nice, easy to navigate, and the food was very good. The pool area is great. NCL doesn't cruise out of Florida anymore (except October thru April) and we live in Florida so we do what's conveinent. We cruise every May and September/October. You'll have a blast.

Triumph is my favorite Carnival ship - It is large but well laid out. The atrium is pretty, and (by Carnival standards) not over the top. We enjoyed the food. The service was very good. Our cabin was lovely. (Cat 8 something.) Loved the little balcony. We really enjoyed the variety of live music throughout the ship. The slots at the casino are tight (by Las Vegas standards). When you first board, instead of going to the buffet, go to the pizza place. The line is usually shorter, and the pizza is as good as most outside of major pizza areas like Chicago or NYC. They have some really neat varieties - my favorite has goat cheese! No it's not really Italian, but it IS good. The only thing I think you'll miss (from NCL) is being able to go to the dining room whenever you please. I do believe that you are in for a great cruise!

We sailed on the Trumiph in June 03 & was disappointed compared to the Inspiration. Yes it is a larger ship but we had poor service in the dining room.Purser desk was very slow to remove a $900 charge mistakely charged on our bill. Many hallways were with stained carpets and several toilets we found not flushable through out the ship. Staff wasn't always friendly compared to the Inspiration. We really enjoyed the ports of call though.

We made our decision enough with Carnival......we want better!!!!!

We sailed the Triumph, Eastern this past April (04).

It's now our favorite Carnival ship.

No stains on carpet. In fact, most of the carpeting was new.

Service was GREAT. The ship looked almost brand new.

Food the best so far out of our 9 cruises.

I have a review posted on Cruise Critic.

You won't be disappointed.

I hope you don't expect the Norwegian Sea to be better than Carnival Triumph. The Sea was, by far, my least favorite ship. You may have a great cruise on the Sea, (and I hope you do) but I think there a better choices out of Texas.

I'm glad to hear it has IMPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food on the Trumiph was the exact menu that was served on the Inspiration approx 15 months ago. Not impressive to me!

We are taking the Norwegian Sea for the ports of call, not just for the ship.

Our experience on the Trumiph was very disappointing! The ports of call on the Trumiph were great but service was alot to be desired!!

I have sailed Carnival three times before..

The Triumph was one of my favorite ships!

It's a newer model..........although the older models still have their 'own' charm...LOL

You will LOVE it!

and that says it all...

Hey everyone,

Thanks so much for all the responses! I am still a bit nervous since I have not cruised Carnival before (and between you and me, said I never would) but I am going in to this expecting the best and I KNOW I will get it... (I am a cruise line's dream - short of sinking the boat, you cant upset me much!!) I am doing my research and homework like a good boy... and CRAVING info, so, if you would be so kind... keep it coming!!!!

Thanks so much

~Intrepid <-- ready to go tomorrow.

Thanks for the link. I'm sure will will have a gret time on the Sea. We took this cruise for the ports of call, noone else offered them. We are only going to one place that we have been before. That was a huge factor in our chose to sail the Sea.We are simply people and all glamor and glitze is not for us. All we want is good service and a clean ship.
