Devoli Posted July 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Can anyone give me some information on the Elation out of Texas? Our group has always sailed from Miami from VA, so any flight information, ship information and possible shore tours would be great. Thanks. oldmedic Posted July 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Devoli, you can contact Carnival at 1-800-CARNIVAL and they will fax or email you information on all the shore excursions that the Elation makes. You may also do some research by going to the ports string at cruise critic and look at the strings on Progreso,Cozumel, and Belize City. The Elation is probably my favorite of all the ships we have been on. you might also check Galveston out at http://www.galveston.com (you can watch the Elation leave on the webcam on Sundays @ 4pm central time.) You will probably fly into Houston and procure transfer service from the airport. There are lots of nice places to stay in Galveston if you want to come down the day before. We are booked on the Elation the week after Thanksgiving and can hardly wait. I have some pics of the Elation posted at http://www.webshots.com my username is oldermedic1. If i can be of any more assistance, please let me know.
Philly Steve Posted July 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Thanks oldmedic for the webcam link. Catch us waving "bye bye" aboard Elation the day after Christmas!
Devoli Posted July 17, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Thanks old medic. I am assuming that you are involved in EMS? My whole group is EMS - my husband is a FF/Medic in the City of Charlottesville, VA. If you are indeed still involved with EMS, can we talk about me getting a shirt from your company? :-)
tricktsm Posted July 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2004 Hi old medic. I was looking at your pictures and wanted to know where you purchased your beach safe around your neck? I have been looking for one that size. Thank you
cruizintexas Posted July 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 17, 2004 As far as the airports -- there is two in Houston, Intercontinental and Hobby. Hobby is closer to Galveston than Intercontinental. We are cruising the Elation in October and we have some family flying in from Atlanta into Hobby. We are staying over on Saturday night and we are staying at the Holiday Inn Express. It is at the far end of Stewart Beach. Closest to the end of the island with the ferry service. We watch the ship leave every Sunday, knowing that it will be us SOON! As my darling DH says, look for the white ___ on Sunday Oct. 3 -- that is him!! Some men NEVER grow up! Remember to explore your options on the island. Have fun! I have also seen them at places near where people "float" the rivers. hope you find them, it is large enough for my driver license and a couple of credit cards and my sail and sign card. i even carry it with me when i scuba dive.
