Has anyone used a free companion certificate from Carnival?

Ohio Savings Bank is offering a coupon good for a free companion cruise (buy one get the second free) for opening a new checking account. They told me it was one person pays, the other goes for free. I was wondering if anyone knows if this includes taxes, port charges, etc., or is it just for the cruise itself? Although, even if it's just for the cruise, it can't be a bad deal if all you have to do is open a checking account.

 

Thought I'd check to see if anyone has used one before I go to the trouble of opening another checking account.

Hmmm. Right now, I sure wish I lived in Ohio! ;)

I've heard of the 'companion' thing, and I belive the companion has to pay port charges and taxes.....but man what a DEAL!

I dont think you have to be a resident of Ohio to open a checking acct.

It asked for your zip, I entered mine ( Cal) and It took me to the 'apply for online acct' page.

Make sure that you check this out. I have heard of these but one has to pay the brochure price for the first person and then the second goes free. If that is the case then you are not saving much at all.

I just clicked on the link and you do have to pay the Super Saver brochure price plus taxes. I would find out how much this would be to book and then call a couple of other agencies to get their price on the same cruise.

If you have a brochure there are rates in there for super savers rate...which is about double the price of an online agency. Nothing in life is free. LOL

Ohio Savings told me I could call Carnival, tell them what coupon I am talking about, and they would know all the details. I'm on my way out now so I won't have a chance to call today...maybe if someone else does they can post the info. It does sound like a great deal.

It is one thing to get a free toaster or garden tools for opening an account, but a free cruise for a companion seems a little far fetched.

The last cruise I was on( Pride 1/18/04) we took the time share tour in Puerto vallarta and also recieved a certificate for a free cruise. Same idea. buy one get one free. Went to check on it once we arrived home, and sure enough you pay brochure rates for the first one ,and second if free. It was cheaper to book on your own and pay for both.The tour was fun anyway. they gave you free lunch of your choice ,drinks and use of their facilities.,which were very nice.

I am curious if the first person pays are they paying for a single (150% more) and then the 2nd go free? No deal there if that is what it is. Please let us know how this works.
