Onessa Posted November 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2006 SIL is a flight attendant. Their 2.5YO DD travels with them alot (her husband is a pilot). They WILL NOT travel without the car seat for DD. If they know that they will not be using it in their destination city, they will check it at the destination airport. When our DD was that age, I had a nice wheeled carry-on to which I could bungee-cord the car seat. DD's diaper bag, my purse and a bag with travel toys all fit nicely into the carry-on. I'd pre-board and pull everything out stash it under the seat ant the carry-on would fold down for overhead bin storage. Even after DD outgrew the need for a diaper bag, it still was very workable (just a bit more space for other stuff, and then I wouldn't always be able to fold it up during flight).
