SeaPA1 Posted November 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2006 Half Moon Bay is located in the West End community (the small bay & the beach area of West End is "Half Moon Bay"). There is also a restaurant/hotel there that is known as "Half Moon Bay Cabins (Cabanas)." The beach is nice; West Bay beach is nicer but typically more crowded on cruiseship days. The snorkeling in HMB is quite nice. If you enter by the HMB Cabins (around to your right as you face the water from the beach) there is reef right away & the wall is a roughly 50-75 yard swim. If you face the water & walk around the point to your left, the reef is again right by you & the wall a little closer. If you go to HMB Cabins/Restaurant, they have a fresh water shower at the exit point. They also have good food & a full bar; the house drink specialty is a "Monkey LaLa" - a frozen drink that has a slight chocolatey taste & is quite good, especially on a hot day.
