hdawson Posted July 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Whether you use traditional brick and mortar agencys or online, get recommendations from your friends and family. Opinions and recomendations on msg boards just don't seem reliable. Unless you are very experienced with travel plans, I would suggest a TA that you can talk to at least by phone with many questions you may have come up. Also it's important to have a real live person that can go to bat for you if/and when something goes wrong. Good luck. Cruising is great. AFter 14 cruises I still use a TA although she's not local. halos Posted July 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Try Best Price Cruises. Very reliable. You can speak with live people by phone..easy and pleasant to work with. Your best bet though is to search yourself!!! Do a google. Make a list of agencies. Pick a cruise and check each web site for prices. Make a lsit of prospective agencies. Call each and ask questions about prices: are prices listed including port charges and taxes? How do they handle price reductions? Do they insist that you buy travel insurance through them?...any extra costs or hidden fees? Will you be able to contact the TA with questions or concerns without difficulty and will you be able to work with just ONE TA and not have a different voice on the phone each time you call. Keep calling places until you find the best price at a reliable agency with the right answers to your questions!! If you do a little homework, you'll get a great price and no aggrivation. It is worth the effort. There are many relaible on line agencies. You don't necessarily need brick and mortar. It's all about what you are comfortable with. I have had no problems with booking on line and several other people on these boards do it that way all the time as well. It winds up cheaper in most cases because you are doing the work yourself...good luck and happy hunting!!
SoFloDeb Posted July 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We like cruisequick.com and buycruises.com. Have gotten great prices and good service from both.
Randy & Carmen Posted July 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Remember to not post names or contact info for TAs....Also don't say "tell them so and so sent you"......This is all in the community guidelines.
