Cat Fight Aboard the Valor - Thanksgiving Week

Two grown women fought over the lounge chairs around the pool. One slapped the other in the face. Yikes! Security came and escorted them out. Can you believe it? It was the talk of the ship! We were up on the top deck...plenty of chairs up there ;)

Will post a review when I get a chance...long story short...good times aboard a great, fun ship..had some issues, especially crowds but that's to be expected when you go away during school vacation weeks.

I know a thread you need to come visit ;)

People get upset over the stupidest things while they are on vacation. And yes, they have a brig but normally they just confine a passenger to their cabin and place security outside their door for a while.

Wow, this proves Cruise Critic is *the* place for cruise info. We were on Lido deck and all we saw was a big guy hollering and some dude in the hot tub ready to hop over the glass wall and either join in or "restrain" the guy (and lots of other guys looked ready as well...)

Security was pretty slow. We thought it was a guy-girl dispute. That explains why security brough the guy together with a girl and then they were going at it (verbally), maybe it was the wife telling him he was really out of line.

I had complained to the purser's desk about the chair saving crap that morning and the day before. Maybe Carnival will realize that they either need to hand out chair saver badges or take their own signs ("In consideration of your fellow guests... reserving chairs is not permitted") seriously.

I'll have much more on the chair situation soon, in my review, once I recover from being away from home for two weeks... it was a wonderful cruise, and the chairs (and a cabin problem) was about the only negative thing. The "fight" was just weird, and a pretty bad example for all the kids on the ship this week.

That another black mark on Carnival.

OK, two people fight and Carnival intervenes and stops them.

Is the black mark because Carnival didn't use some form of ESP to stop the fight before it started or because they didn't provide a pool filled with Jell-O?

I don't think that was what was meant by "another black mark for Carnival" . . . I don't think they meant it was Carnival's fault . . . I think they meant it was just another example of the the "type of people" that cruise on Carnival. I may be wrong but that's the way I understood it.

As someone who has been on two Carnival cruises and am about to go on my third in January . . . I have never seen anything like the "cat fight" the OP saw or any "type of person" that is any different than any of the passengers I've cruised with on other cruise lines.

Nah...I didn't see it that way. They diffused the situation and everything was back to normal in no time. I think they handled it well. With over 3,000 on board..there's bound to be someone that acts up.

Sorry, I don't care how many people you put on board Silversea, I don't see this happening. Now they may snob themselves to death, but it would never come to a Cat fight.

I think that is what they meant about a black mark on Carnival. Not the cruiseline itself, but the crowd it caters to. Just a guess....

You mean that stuff you see on shows like Dynasty or Dallas dosen't happen in real life??? Plenty of cat fights there and I'm willing to bet a few of the high class cats have the nails and use them too in real life!:)

A couple of years ago we were down in S FL staying at the Westin Diplomat, a beautiful 5 star hotel that costs way too much money. We kept seeing these two women, both in their 40's, who would constantly snub eachother. The two guys seemed to get along fine so they were probably either sisters or sister in laws.

Well, we were getting something to eat for dinner at Nikki's across the street and the first couple came in and got seated at the bed closest to the lake windows. The second couple comes in about 15 min later and wanted the same bed. They started arguingand yelling right there. Then the one that came in second climbed on the bed and slapped the one that was already there. That turned into a nice little fight with the two guys trying to pull the girls apart and the staff all running around clueless. The second couple left in a huff after they got seperated. Since that was our last night down there I'm not sure what happened afterwards.

Staying at a 5 star resort...$500/night

Dinner at Nikki's...$300 for 2

Watching two chicks duke it out over a bed in a resteraunt...priceless

Money doesn't equal class, and class doesn't mean they don't catfight.

Last year on the QE2 World Cruise, two women got into a fight over who could use the dryer in the laudry. One of the women punched the other in the nose. The second women was a "bleeder". We were three days out of Hawaii so medical evac was not possible. The call went out of blood doners. At the NEXT port of call both women and their husbands were put off the ship as "trouble makers." Cunard knows how to handle this.
