Leila Posted December 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2006 Does anyone know how this excursion works? It says on carnival.com that you go via tender, so do you think there are multiple departure times? And that you can come back early if you wanted to? My mother and sister would be taking my 2 yo daughter, so I don't want themt to be stuck there for 4 hours if she hates it, and I also don't want them to have to leave too too early! DH and I will be cave tubing with Yhonni - we're so excited! L.

If you are still interested google Bannister Island, the have their own website. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=16639
momofzeke Posted December 10, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2006 We really enjoyed our time on Bannister Island (Private Island Beach Break) in March, 2006. I read the review on the above post, and I have to say, our experience was totally different than that poster. But, we were lucky enough to have nice weather. I can see that it wouldn't be much fun if the weather was cold. The tender does pick you up right from the ship. There were 2 times offered on our Miracle cruise. We chose the later one, about 10:30 am I believe. We met in the Phantom lounge and a Carnival employee was giving clear instructions to sit and wait for our group to be taken to the tender. We waited about 15 minutes or so, and then she escorted us to the tender. No confusion, really easy. The tender takes about 20 minutes or so to get to the island, and the crew was very friendly. They told us a little about the island on the way out, and what to expect. There are clean bathrooms, and covered restaurant/bar area, and the beach with the lounge chairs, a few covered tables. They have float mats for you to use free of charge. There are kayaks and paddle boats on the other side of the beach that you can rent for an extra charge. The waitresses came around the lounge chairs and took our orders for food and/or drinks. They were friendly. We had chicken strips which were pretty darn tasty. Also offered was hot dogs, hamburgers, bar-b-q chicken, nachos, maybe a few more things. We had a nice day on Bannister Island. It was not as nice as Paradise Beach in Cozumel, but a nice beach day just the same.
