Cruising Out of NY in winter

We are considering booking a 10 day S.carribean cruise out of NY for 2008. Has anyone had experience with this and how rough are the seas? I love the idea of having 2 days at sea each way and waking up to warm weather :)

We sailed out of NYC on Dawn a few years ago in December. We returned to a blizzard! The only problem we had was meeting up with our car service since there was so much snow, she couldn't find a place to wait for us... and the roads were jammed.

 

The seas were fine.

 

I love bouncy seas, so I was a bit disappointed it wasn't more rocky! :D

It might take you until your second full day at sea before you hit warm weather. We left over Thanksgiving last year in 30 degree weather and it took until we were off the Bahamas to warm up.
