dining rooms

You'll be assigned a table and dining room. If you want a table for two...or to change your dining time or table, you can see about changing it with the Maitre'D. You don't always get what you want, but it's worth checking into if there's something specific you'd like. :)

If you want a specific time and size table, you need to make a request ahead of time through your TA or PVP at Carnival. This is only a request, but they will do their best to accommodate you. You will receive your dining time and table assignment when you check in at the desk. Go to the dining room to check the size and location of your table once you are aboard. If it or the dining time aren't to your liking, check the Capers for the time the Maitre D' will be available to request a change. They may or may not be able to make the change. Either way, the only "open seating" dining on the ship is in the buffet. If you are given an assigned table and time, you should make every effort to be on time as late arrivals throw off the schedule.

anyone know how the seating works? Just wondering if you ask for a table of your own or if you have to find a seat in open seating?

Whne you booked your cruise you should have been asked if you would prefer late seating or an early seating. Depending on which ship you are sailing there will either be 4 seating times or 2 seating times. You will be at the same table in the Dining Room for dinner each night of your cruise with the same tablemates and waitstaff. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet people! There are small tables and you can make that request but personally I also request a large table as I love meeting different people.

There will be Open Seating in the Dining Room during breakfast and lunch however you will not be roaming around finding your own seats. When you arrive at the Dining Room there will be staff at the Maitre D' stand and you tell them how many in your party and you will be seated. Often times they put you at another table with people who have arrived at the same time but you can ask to sit alone if you would like.

If you opt to eat at the buffet on the Lido Deck then you will be finding your own seats.

If your ship has a Specialty Dining Room and you make reservations there you will be seated only with other people if you make reservations with them and request this.

I think Carnival does an excellent job at assigning tables. When we have sailed with our DS and DD we had tables that had children near their ages. Lately when we have sailed alone our table mates have been in our age group and in fact we still e-mail back and forth with some of them.
