drfeelgood Posted January 5, 2007 #27 Share Posted January 5, 2007 Although, many people want the cruise ship employees to intervene and police activity of others. A question to those of you who want this control... how would you answer if approached by a staff or crew member and asked to stop what you are doing? If you were doing something completely acceptable to you and most others, how would you respond if someone complained about you and you were asked to stop by the staff? What I was referring to is behavior outside the boundaries of having a good time. Kids throwing food in the Windjammer is outside the boundries, teens jumping from the hot tub into the pool is outside the boundries. When a fellow cruiser's behavior endangers me or my families safety or has a major negative effect on the cruise experience it is time for the cruiseline staff to intervene. Sometimes it seems like the cruise staff either doesn't care, or is afraid of offending the offensive behavior passenger. If my teens are misbehaving on the ship I would welcome a fellow cruiser or ships staff to inform me about it so I could take immediate action to stop it. My kids aren't perfect , none are, but they know the boundries of acceptable behavior and the consequences when they go outside of those boundaries. Kids will be kids..........but parents need to be parents !
mamamo65 Posted January 6, 2007 #28 Share Posted January 6, 2007 Two pet peeves. 1. The folks who try to get on the elevator before letting anyone off. It's actually kind of fun as I'm big enough they just bounce off me as I'm getting off. Also, the ones that push in front of folks in a wheelchair to get on. Or push aside someone with a cane. 2. The little clump of 4 to 6 people that stop to talk just after they get outside the door of the theater, stop at the narrowest part of the passageway thru the shops, in the entrance to the casino and anyplace else that causes a bottleneck. I keep thinking I'll do a survey one day to find out why they do that. 1. I have taught my sons the art of elevator riding. On our last cruise I would teach the little darlings that they had to wait till we got off. I also carry the extra padding. 2. This also happens at amusement parks, I swear I am just going to run them over one of these days. "Oh, I didn't see you there is the middle of the walkway having a conversation.;) "

on board Posted January 6, 2007 #30 Share Posted January 6, 2007 My pet peeve is what I call the "price braggers". You know the ones who have to tell you what a great price they got on their cruise and want to know how much you paid. Though if you want to have fun with them (and I do) get them to tell you what they paid first and be sure and give them an amount that is at least $100 less. I really don't care what anyone else paid for their cruise, if I couldn't afford it I'd be at home. I have met so many people traveling and especially cruising, when we all get to talking it always seems to lead to the price of our cruise. I have been ask so many times and frankly I think my first cruise I ask also. I don't mind when someone ask because usually it is someone that does not know how to catch the coupons or did not know that the cruise could be cheaper. I really don't mind helping someone out, and I don't mind letting them in on things that have helped me to get my cruise a little cheaper. What is the big deal? Now when they start asking how much I make a year that is when I  :D
samtig Posted January 6, 2007 #31 Share Posted January 6, 2007 My biggest pet peeve is parents who don't think it's necessary to supervise their children/teens and let them take their disruptive behavior all over the ship. I'd never dream of letting mine loose unsupervised. It's also very dangerous for them. Also agree it's irritating to encounter those who cut down the cruise we're on by giving long renditions of why other cruiselines are better. They should just book a cruise on that line and not expose others to their negativity. We just live in a world where there are some people who appear to enjoy being negative no matter where they are. They don't ruin my cruise even if they try hard!!
