Springdale Posted January 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2007 We're looking for information about the length and difficulty of the hike from the van drop-off point in Belize for cave tubing to the put-in point at the river. We will have a 70-year-old and a 10-year-old in our group, and want to be sure they could make the hike to the river. Thanks.
maddenmd Posted January 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2007 I posted a review of our trip yesterday. You can check that for more details. With Cave-tubing.com. the walk was about 45 minutes. There were two steeped parts with steps to climb, a small incline, and a lot of straight paths. The paths however had tree limbs and rocks and things on the path. You had to watch your step at all times, but it was not particularly strenuous to us. Our youngest was 12, and our oldest was 75. No one complained about the walk. My MIL (75) did wish she could look around more, as the jungle is gorgeous- but she didn't find the walk hard. She does walk 1-2 miles regularly however, and is in good physical shape. If you are steady on your feet, and can walk at a slow to moderate pace for 45 minutes you will not have trouble with the walk. On the return you are 2 minutes from the bus parking lot.
