CB - Family with 11/14 year olds - late seating or anytime?

In the past, we always booked the early seating since the kids were younger and didn't have the patience for late seating. We never wanted to book anytime dining since we liked the experience of having the same waiters every night (they would do magic tricks and such with the kids). Well, the kids are grown up and I am unsure whether to book late seating or anytime. I'm worried that late seating is too late, conflicts with late shows, requires us to see the early show (don't like that), etc. With anytime dining, is it correct that I can make a reservation? Can I book a table for just the 4 of us? How good is the reservation system on CB? Does anyone recommend the late seating instead of anytime dining?

Thanks.
