danixbanani Posted January 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2007 Hello all! I'm new to NCL and my first cruise with them will be April 1st on the Dawn. I have a question about the restaurants...which ones have a surcharge and which don't? I know Cagney's does but that's about the only one I'm sure of. I've searched the forums and can't really seem to get the answer I'm looking for. Any help would be great :) Thanks in advance!

Grammynelliebelle Posted January 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2007 I don't know if you are interested in this, but when we were on the Dawn in October,06 the surcharge Cagney's and Le Bistro was half price if you were seated by 6 PM. I'm not sure about the Asian. We enjoyed both of them for the lower rate. Grammy

songanddance Posted January 11, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2007 Unless you don't get out much at home or don't have any really good local restaurants, I would not bother with the pay extra venues. I found the Venetian Dining room to be amongst the most beautiful rooms afloat. However, if you like a more modern decor Aqua is very retro. Impressions evidently did not make one on me as I can not remember what is looked like exceppt I was not impressed. Simply can't understand why one would wish to pay extra for food that should be included in the fare. All of the meals in the Venetion were elegant, well served and special. I can get steak at home mexican at home chinese at home but I can't get the Venetian diningroom at home without paying over $100 per meal at one of the finest hotels in the area. So I would recommend sticking to the dining room. If you want a great hamburger fix, the Blue Lagoon off hours is the place to stop by. Thick cooked to order (pink if you want it) with good fries. Enjoy your cruise, the ship is very attractive.
songanddance Posted January 11, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2007 Sorry for the double post. Better Cruise Critic had expanded their ability to handle the volume instead of increasing type size and other cute but unnecessary changes to the site. KeystoneCruiser Posted January 11, 2007 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2007 Impressions was my favorite NCL main restaurant. Very quiet and more intimate than the massive Venetian Restaurant and toned down from Aqua. I highly reccommend Cagneys as well as LaTrattatoria (a free specialty restaurant.) danixbanani Posted January 11, 2007 Author #9 Share Posted January 11, 2007 yeah I agree. I'm not really into paying for food on a cruise ship when there's so many options included in the price of the cruise. I was just curious as to which ones do require a price to (hopefully) stay away from them. Unfortunately, I don't know how my cruisemates may feel about that. I'm going to have to convince them otherwise :)
