hstrybuf Posted January 12, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2007 Yes, there is smoking on board, but only in designated areas, outside on one side of the ship or your cabin. Check your daily Capers. They will list where you can smoke. And yes, you can take one carton to the airport.
kujobie Posted January 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2007 Yes you can smoke, in your cabin, casino, most lounges, and on outer decks (on outer decks one side of the ship is smoking and the other is non-smoking.) They sell them on the ship, very cheap, duty-free, about $17 per carton. You are allowed to bring a carton back with you per person. If you go to the Virgin Islands, you can bring 5 cartons back. Bring matches as you can't fly with a lighter. Carry a couple of packs to get you through to the ship.
hstrybuf Posted January 12, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2007 If you smoke a popular brand, you MAY find it for sale on the ship. Surprisingly, my DH's brand was not available nor was my lesser known brand.
SkyBlueWater Posted January 12, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2007 Regarding flying/lighters - you can pack lighters in your checked luggage so you have them to use once you get to port.

zaandam_2 Posted January 12, 2007 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2007 Regarding flying/lighters - you can pack lighters in your checked luggage so you have them to use once you get to port. depends on the type of lighter. this clarifies it: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_multi_image_with_table_0099.shtm as for the brands sold onboard, they are very limited. i was surprised they didn't have marlboro light 100s. they did have ultralight 100s. go figure. i started this thread about smoking areas onboard a while back: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=445388
Avril Posted January 12, 2007 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2007 Yes you can smoke in most bars and lounges (not in the dinning rooms, buffett, or main show lounge), in your cabin and on outside decks usualy on the starboard (right) side of the ship. Check your Carnival Capers for a list of where you can and can't smoke onboard. And yes you can buy them onboard by the pack at some of the bars (try the bar on the Lido Deck) for a really good price. Well, at least it's good for me when I'm from Canada and for the cheapest brands, it's about $5 a pack. You can also buy them buy the carton in the gift shop but these are tax and duty free so they wil keep them for you untill the end of the cruise. They will be delivered to your cabin on the last night. I think you can bring a carton on the airplane and 1 book of matches. Leave your lighter at home as they are banned from the plane and they will take it from you. In some airports, both carry on and checked baggage is inspected by security so don't try putting you lighter in your checked baggage instead because although it sometimes works, it won't always. Cotton Posted January 13, 2007 #16 Share Posted January 13, 2007 It's the alcohol they keep until the last evening, not the cigs. They've never had my brand - but I've had friends who bought the cigs on the ship and took them right to their cabins. (That's the first person I've ever heard say they kept them...) Miss Ivy - Welcome to the boards, but a friendly FYI for you - It's considered rude to type in all caps....it's like shouting.:)

kml2000 Posted January 13, 2007 #18 Share Posted January 13, 2007 I have a question. My mom smokes and we have them booked in a balcony cabin, on the port side of the ship. Can she smoke on her balcony? Is it just the open decks that limit which side she can smoke on?
MrPete Posted January 13, 2007 #19 Share Posted January 13, 2007 Yes, she can smoke on her balcony, regardless of what side the cabin is on.

katiecat Posted January 13, 2007 #21 Share Posted January 13, 2007 You can smoke on either side from your cabins and on outside decks. Just Lido around that pool area it was one side. I just returned home from the Miracle what a blast. I was surprised of all the areas we could smoke. Lisa
