Recommendations for hotel by pier

We are cruising on NCL Sun on October 20, 2007. We will be arriving from Kona on Friday, Oct. 19. We are not planning on renting a car for one day. Any recommendations for a hotel near the piers? After we return from the cruise, we will stay at a hotel for two more days so we will be renting a car for that time period. We thought it would be easiest to pick up the car from the airport so we can drop it off at the airport. Is there a better logistical way to do this? Any information would be appreciated including hotel suggestions.

Executive Center Hotel is the closest hotel to the pier. It is a couple of blocks away. As you can imagine hotels are mostly concentrated in Waikiki

Executive Center Hotel

1088 Bishop St

Honolulu, HI 96813

(808) 539-3000

This is assuming that your ship will dock at Aloha Tower Market Place. If it docks at pier 2 then the hotel is located more than a couple of blocks.

Any other hotel would be Waikiki or the Airport (airport I would not recommend)

It is some what difficult answering the hotel recommendation without know the type of hotel you would like.

Suggestions are based on different tiers.

Top: Halekulani - Never stayed there but have had friends stay - very nice

Mid: Sheraton/Hilton have stayed at 3 of the 4 Sheratons and 1 of the 3 Hiltons - would stay again

Low: Ilima - Have stayed here many times -- also many of our friends have stayed here when they come to Hawaii.

All the properties have websites.

tripadvisor.com has some very good reviews of the Hawaii hotesl.

Hawaiicruisers, Thank you so very much for such a quick response. We've never vacationed in HA and we are so excited. We are going to the Big Island to a timeshare and then go on the NCL Sun for an 11 day cruise. We've been on the internet to search alot of information, but it's nice to get first-hand experience. Thanks again.

I don't know if they do it all the time but this move affected a lot of people. For our cruise they replaced it with the POA and the only thing NCL would do for us was move us from a BA to an II(inside). We decided to get our money back and booked Princess. You need to contact your TA or call NCL.

I recommend the Ala Moana Hotel. It's a 3 1/2 star hotel attached to the fabulous Ala Moana Shopping Center. It's between Waikiki and the pier, so it's a great location to access both areas. Ala Moana beach is right across the street. It just finished up a multi-million dollar renovation, so it's clean and new and bright.

I found Expedia.com offered better prices than the hotel's own website.
