mintchoco_ykc Posted January 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2007 A few questions, 1. I've read that it's not advise to venture outside the port by yourself, but I was looking into taking a water taxi on my own to Caye Caulker. How far is the walk from the port terminal to the taxi stand? 2. Once at Caye Caulker, how SAFE is it to walk around on your own? 3. Does anyone know of specific places where I can rent kayaks to paddle around for a few hours, and the approx. prices? Thanks.
wrinklesandme Posted January 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Hey there, Don't know where the water taxi to Caulker Caye is, but you will feel very safe on CC. It's a very small, sleepy kinda town. We rented golf carts for $10USD/hour and had a blast. The following website should give you more information. http://www.gocayecaulker.com/serv.html Belize is one of our favorite ports! Enjoy!
rfische1 Posted January 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Just spent 10 days in Belize for a university service learning trip. We took the water taxi to Caye Caulker and it was great. I believe it cost US$25 RT and took 45 minutes. The Caye is very safe and laid back and there seemed to be lots of expatriated North Americans there. The water taxi is next to the swing bridge, a very easy walk from the port. Lots of tourist police to protect you.
