The family is going on the Star April 14th is there any advice out there about entertainment nights for example taking along fancy dress etc. Also other than the casino are teenagers allowed to go to discos or themed evenings?

How do I find out about the best shore tours, can someone direct me to a site? We are stopping at Noumea Vila and Lifou. We were looking at the Eskar Cultural tour ...any comments? Thanks

Theme nights will be two formal nights, and depending on the length of your cruise, a Country and western night, rock n roll and island night.

island night is the night most people dress up, it's pretty big, and there is a party held out on the back deck (weather permitting). it is usually held the night the boat departs Port Vila, where you can buy all the island gear you need!! My husbands takes a hawaian shirt, I usually wear a sarong, flower lei, my son last year wore a grass skirt with all the trimmings!!

It's fun to get to dinner with everyone dressed island style.

Under 18's are not allowed in the nightclubs after 10pm. They usually hold a disco or entertainment in the nightclub before this time for the under 18's.My 15yr daughter came everywhere else with us, all the lounges, where we could have a drink or watch a show. They are pretty strict on them not being where they are not allowed, there are signs up. After 10pm my daughter had fun just wandering around the boat with the group of teenagers she had met, she still keeps in contact with them all!!

Have a look on the P &O website for further details of shore excursions. I haven't been to Lifou, in Noumea and Vila we do our own thing as tours can get expensive when you have a family. The le petit train in Noumea gets good reveiws here, we did the City and Anse Vata tour cause we had the kids with us and really enjoyed it. You could just catch the local bus to Anse Vata beach and have swim, then on your return wander around Coconut Square and Noumea town. I recommend the Ameedee Island day trip if you are in port for a full day.

If you haven't been to Vila before i recommend a half day sightseeing trip, lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants then some shopping.

Most of the regular cruisers on here have their favourite ports and things they like to do, so weigh up all your options and pick what will suit you and your family.
