Paradise Beach or Playa Palancar?

Will be in Coz in May on the Caribbean Princess. It's just me and my 13 year old daughter, and we want to spend the day shopping and hanging out at the beach.

 

Couple of questions:

Which do you recommend: Paradise Beach or Playa Palancar, and why?

We might look at taking a snorkel trip from one of those two locations. Is one better than the other?

 

Any recommendations on how to schedule our day? I hate to lug beach stuff around while we're shopping, but also don't want to take the stuff I've purchased to the beach. Would it be worth it to go back to the ship in between?
