I am pretty sure for the Military rate you have to call or go through a TA, at least in my experience with using it that is how it was done.

You will have to call a TA or cruiseline. Military rates are not online.

So there aren't any codes I can enter in the "promotional" field on the Carnival site? I don't care for that much. My PVP is great, but I hesitate to keep calling and checking on things like these. I like to be able to keep an eye on what's going on with my sailing. :(

My husband is also military. I love those discounts! There are a couple places online you can check that does have the military discount displayed. shoot me an email if you want to know which sites to check.

I know a site that shows the military rates Unlike someone on these boards last year who told me there is no way to watch or get rate drops under the military rate I watched this site very closely and we saved $500.00 on our last cruise if you want this site email me and I will send it to you

I was wondering, do you have to be currently in the military in order to get the military discount? My dad was thinking about taking my mom on their first cruise for their anniversary this year and they both were in the military.

With carnival, you can be active, retired or have been honorably discharged and get the discount. other lines are different. the military discount is really really good. my pvp said it's almost always the best discount available.

mmm, according to my pvp.

 

it's also the best rate we've ever found. My point was, it's not usually worth the hassle of waiting out for one day sales, and trying to finagle combining discounts and coupons, etc. The military discount is excellent, and usually can't be beat. It does happen, but not often enough to hold out and risk the miliary cabins filling up for the ship you want.

 

I haven't heard any shady PVP stories. Plenty of shady TA stories though. What benefit would my PVP (who was a personal friend before she was my PVP) get from lying about how good the military discount is?

Thanks for the "mmm". I tried it on a cruise that we have scheduled with a mil discount--the Carnival website indicates no cabins remaining for that sailing. I guess the price won't drop, I will check back anyway. Thanks again!!

It tells me that there are no sailings available either, but the other websites that CC members have emailed to me have shown they are.
