The buffets and two dining rooms are first come first serve (you can make reservations if you want to have the same table) My wife and I sailed the Sun in March of last year and never had to wait more than a minute for a table in the main dining areas. My wife and I were able to book shore excursions on the vessel roughly two days prior to the port, this may not be typical, just what we observed. I have heard that the Sun's cabins are fairly small compared to other cruiselines. That in mind, my wife and I had 9077 aft balcony and thought there was ample room for us. As for upsell I really cannot tell you, I have never been offered one. As for the ship, we loved it, and would sail on it again anytime.

debberannne Posted January 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2007 Be sure and go to the Roll Call board, and find other posters who are cruising with you!
mikaula Posted January 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2007 I've been on the Sun twice and love the ship and the crew! Pre-booking excursions is not always necessary, but it also depends on where you are going. For example, if you are going to Alaska and want to go on a dog sled ride I would advise booking ahead of time. The tours are very limited and sell out fast. But if you are thinking about pre-booking a day at the beach type tour then there will be lots of room and you can probably wait till you are on board. It just depends on where you want to go and how important the tour is to you. The first time I went to Alaska I wanted to do a dog sled tour and waited till on board and didn't get to go. The next time I went I booked ahead and I must say it was the hightlight of my trip! Hope this helps!
canada99 Posted January 23, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted January 23, 2007 Thanks for taking the time to leave messages. We really want to do the floatplane trip to Neets bay and see some bears so we might book well in advance for that, thats if the bears are still around in mid Sept, the dog sledding did catch our eye, and you have almost "sold it" to us. The helicopter/glacier trips look good as well, as do the whale watching. We have thought about doing a couple of formal nights and really going to town, then the casino, the show.......will a week be enough ???
