Any areas for nonsmokers?

We're sailing the Glory in May - 1st cruise. I've heard that all of the lounges/casino/etc.. are smoky. Please tell me that no one smokes in the dining room or Red Sail Restaurant. How about the theatre where the shows are? Can you escape the smoke or is it everywhere?

You heard wrong... there is NO smoking in any of the lounges (theatres) or restaurants... yes, many of the bars allow smoking, some don't. The disco and casino do allow smoking. One side of the outside decks are smoking, one isn't. PLENTY of places to escape smoke.

You should not have a problem avoiding it.

We have never had a cabin with any residual odor.

We don't gamble, so avoiding the casino is not a problem. Generally, where ever they hold karaoke is non smoking although there will be smoking in the piano bar, sports bar and (of course) the cigar bar.

The atrium area is non smoking and there is no smoking walking from one venue to another...so you should be ok.

In the recent past - last coupla years - Carnival has limited the smoking areas of their ships. The inside promenades were once smoking areas, but now are not. All lounges were once smoking, but not these days.

The main showlounge and all dining venues are non-smoking, as is one side of the outside decks. You'll receive info on the smoking/non-smoking areas.

Several years ago, there was still a smoking area in the main dining rooms. Not now.

So - Carnival has tried to conform and is continuing to do so - in the interest of those who do not smoke.

The only places I noticed smoke on our Miracle cruise were in the casino and the piano bar. I know that smoking is allowed in those areas, so it doesn't bother me. If it gets too bad, I leave or move to a different area. Lots of non-smoking areas on the ship. If you do notice a smoke smell in your cabin, you can ask your room steward to use his "magic spray" to get the smell out. I've never had any problem with smoke or any other smell in my stateroom on Carnival.

Have fun on your cruise! :)

On ourl ast Valor cruise we noticed a lot of people smoking on the Promenade. Two areas that are strictly non-smoking are the dining room and show lounge. Everywhere else is at the smokers' whim. There are no night-time venues that are smoke free. Not the disco, bars, piano lounge, casino, nowhere.:(

your thread title is backwards. every area on board is considered non-smoking, unless it is specifically designated as a permitted smoking area -- not the other way around.

There are non smoking bars... there are far more non smoking areas than smoking areas. All of the ship is strictly non smoking except for those otherwise designated as smoking permitted. True, the hopping bars at night do allow smoking... but there are non smoking bars.

Curious to know where the non smoking bars are on Carnival ships. All the ones we were on weren't as far as I know. I know for sure the last couple we were on (Liberty and Valor)we did the pub crawl and dh smoked in everyone.....

the entire aft pool and bar area, main pool bar on the port side, the entire promenade, paparazzi, atrium bar, atrium adjacent, victoria lounge, and wherever they had croakie.

during the daytime it was worse. when they had activities in the cigar bar, it was non-smoking. any of the bars that weren't staffed (and that means almost all) were non-smoking because there were no ashtrays available.

Just talking bars here....not areas...or lounges...

Dh did smoke at the atrium bar as with others....

When we first arrive on the ship we always go to the aft pool bar...sorry smoked there too.

Maybe it's just like someone else said another thing they don't enforce. LOL!

Also it cracks me up that the promenade next to the casino is non smoking 2 steps and no wall you are in the casino:rolleyes:

Believe I don't really care one way or another.......

i'm just glad that the 5 other threads are gone! was just about to post a thread begging sbolis to please stop posting thread after thread after thread about smoking when they were apparently moved or pulled. 5 of the last 6 threads from that poster were the same question asked 5 different ways! whole page was turning into a smoking thread!

thank you hosts.

When we sailed the Liberty--TRivia was played in the Cigar bar and it seemed everyone smoked. I dont know how they can enforce non smoking in a place that is advertised for smoking.

But do agree that i was sometimes very hard to find a place to smoke.

they had it listed on the daily as being non-smoking. maybe that was something new.

they were enforcing it on the liberty in oct/nov. not sure when you went. and i don't know what you mean about areas, either. the promenade and atrium areas represent a huge amount of the public space on the ship.

We sailed on the Liberty March 2006 and the Valor Dec. 2006. I know there are "areas" that are non smoking....I was talking bars....you know the kind with a counter and you sit in front of;) (casino, pool, sports, atrium) When we did the pub crawl we actually went to the bars not the lounges. And people smoked at all of them.

Like I said I don't really care....just never seen a no smoking bar on our cruises that's all.

Try the Spirit class ships, I know there were several non smoking lounges on the Miracle... including a jazz club, as well as a bar somewhere near the disco, and the lobby bar. On the Conquest and Valor, half of the casino bar was non smoking, as if it helps, LOL... plus the usual lobby bar (these have been non smoking for a couple of years now...I haven't seen an atrium bar you could smoke at in at least 2 years) And there was music and karaoke in the aft lounges, which were non smoking... Aft pool bar on the Conquest class is smoking ONLY when the top is open.

Then yes, there are non smoking BARS on all the classes I have been on, the atrium bar being the one that sticks out the most... there is always at least one outside bar that is non smoking, and on the spirit class I know there were a few others. But yes, there are non smoking bars, at least on the ships I have been on. If people smoked at ALL the bars, then they were just being inconsiderate.

not on the liberty. security came over and told me i couldn't smoke even with the top open. chief purser laura confirmed this when i met with her. the ONLY quiet outdoor space was below the lifeboats on deck 3.
