Mancuso Posted July 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2004 When cruising Southbound to Vancouver, which side is better, Port or Starboard? It's an old age question, but being that I've never been there, I want to get it right. What do you think? Dan ______________________ Millennium Inaugural Cruise Constellation Easter 2002 Summit this Christmas 2004 :) Well, for my money, it's a wash, at least in the inside passage, as there is land on both sides. Glacier days will usually see both sides get symmetrical treatment, so I really doubt it matters.
eileen & jay Posted July 26, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2004 Mancuso: Last August, we sailed Southbound from Seward to Vancouver on the Summit. We were PORTSIDE and that is what you want if you can get it. The scenery was spectacular and the weather was clear. Enjoy!
CINDON Posted July 26, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2004 Traveling "southbound" the port side will always have a view of land when there is one. Go with the port side.
StephenJohnson Posted July 26, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 26, 2004 That isn't valid on the inside passage, as there is land on both sides. I've been on both sides, you can see much the same things, as land is (mostly) close on both sides.
CINDON Posted July 26, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 26, 2004 Yes, but coming southbound there is quite a distance where you are traveling and not in the "inside passage". So there is a certain advantage to being on the port side in those areas. You will see more land by far from the port side.

HappyTraveling Posted July 29, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2004 Hi, We don't mean to hijack your thread :o , but we need help/advice for a different route. We are taking the 12nt Mediterranean cruise from Venice to Barcelona. See below for the actual route: http://www.celebrity.com/package.asp?g=EUROP&i=12VEB1&es=1050527&sh=ML&sr=EUE&sd=05272005&n=12&s=AE6730C25B Should we choose portside or starboard on the Celebrity Millenium? The cruise includes portcalls in Venice, Dubrovnik, Pireaus (Athens), Santorini, Naples, Civitavecchia(Rome), Livorna, Villefranche and lastly Barcelona. Does it matter whether where the cabin is located i.e. aft(back) or fore(front) of the ship? I am prone to getting slight seasick.... Any advice is much appreciated. :)
