Okie1946 Posted January 30, 2011 #1976 Share Posted January 30, 2011 For our first cruise we booked a veranda because we wanted to be able to sit and watch for whales and other ocean life in the comfort of our own cabin, close to our own bathrooms. We were originally assigned a cabin on the 6th deck, right in the middle of the ship - a really nice location. When we arrived to check in - we discovered we had been "upgraded?" to Cabin 7001. This cabin is located at the very, VERY front of the ship, right under the bridge. Don't get me wrong - it was a very nice cabin with nice views because it was one deck higher than what we were before. BUT - when we tried to sit out on the veranda, it became almost impossible. Being at the very front we caught the WIND full force, the dividers did not stop it and sometimes it reached gale strength. If you like your morning coffee luke warm to cold - this is the verandah for you.

nalangel Posted January 31, 2011 #1980 Share Posted January 31, 2011 Never heard a band when we stayed on the aft cabin- what cabin did you have and did you leave your balcony door opened? 9406 and didn't leave balcony door open. Didn't hear the band until last night-but had noisy kids next to us entire two weeks. But, not complaining about kids-would have been nice to have a little better soundproofing. Mr. Bungle Posted February 1, 2011 #1981 Share Posted February 1, 2011 A couple of rooms to AVOID... Any AFT BALCONY... Sure the view is nice, but in the morning when it comes time to dock, lock everything down and be ready to get breakfast at 630am. We were on the 8th deck of Carnival Freedom and every morning the Side-Thrusters used to nudge the ship into dock. By nudge I mean shake the living heck out of everything... Deck 8 on Majesty OTS. We did a 4 night Bahamas and was awaken 2 of the 4 at 130am by the crowd leaving the Spectrum lounge. Suprized the pursurs desk when I showed up in my shorts and fuzzy slippers to complain. Startled a few 'kids' when I whipped my door open after they felt it was necessary to knock on EVERY DOOR IN THE HALL on the way by... Not cool guys... Not cool. I will let you all know how Deck 4 Ocean view rooms on Enchantment OTS turn out after my next cruise. Not quiet under the casino but not too far from the Champagne lounge outside the main dining room. M.B.

gmldolphin Posted February 2, 2011 #1986 Share Posted February 2, 2011 Sis there anyone that has ever stayed in this cabin that could give me any comments good or bad about it. I would also like to see any pictures that anyone would have of the cabin or the balcony. I have heard some good things about this cabin and also some bad things and I'm trying to make up my mind if I've made a good choice taking the Carnival PVP's advice. Thanks in advance for any help that you can give to me. Gail

Lady_Jag Posted February 4, 2011 #1988 Share Posted February 4, 2011 right across the hall from a crew door that gets busy around 6 am every morning. Same for any Fantasy-class ship on Carnival. We had M195 on the Inspiration, and when we first arrived to our cabin the first day, the cabin door was open, and there were laundry bags piled up across the threshold, making it difficult to enter. Plenty of bumping and banging could be heard from this room throughout the day from the room service and room steward carts. I used it to our advantage, though, to keep my 4-year-old in line. (I told her that if she didn't behave, they'd make us leave. Once, when she was throwing a fit and I heard the carts rolling/banging down the hall, I said, "there they are now. Better pack your things!" She was good as gold from then on! ;)

TravelWise101 Posted February 14, 2011 #1994 Share Posted February 14, 2011 NCL Pearl - 11044 - any thoughts? Someone who stayed on the other side of the ship complained of deck noise from above. Has anyone stayed in 11044? We are light sleepers and noticed that mini-suites are only to be found on this floor with no rooms above just the deck. EastIowaGirl Posted February 21, 2011 #2000 Share Posted February 21, 2011 A cabin to avoid on the Star Princess is Aloha Deck, balcony cabin A632. We had this cabin on a transatlantic cruise. At various times of the middle of the night we would hear a very loud crashing noise that sounded something like heavy metal crates crashing together. It would sometimes actually shake the walls. Across from our door was a door leading to some freight elevators. We never did figure out what on earth was crashing in there at 1am, 2am etc. A few times I looked out the door and asked crew members who were in the hall what the noise was. They denied having heard any type of noise. A632 is a conveniently located cabin if you don't mind the noise at night!
