Transatlantic with kids

Family From Down Under

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are booked on the Navigator of the Seas 14 April from Miami to Southampton. We're taking our two daughters aged 9 and 5.

We cruised previously with Carnival, and our children had a great time in the kids club. I've heard RCCL also have an excellent program for children.

Of course, this time being a transatlantic cruise, we're expecting an older crowd with far fewer kids. Are there any other families out there booked on this cruise, or who have done the transatlantic?

Just completed a transatlantic with our 4 year old on NCL Dream. Despite being an older ship and the kids club not being as large as more modern counterparts she had a great time.

The whole ship had 13 kids at that time, with 5 going to the kids club. Lots of one-on-one attention as there were 4 kids counsellors ;-)

She loved the swimming in the pool as well and all of the attention given her by a boat-load of grandparents and staff missing their kids at home.

We are taking her on another transatlantic this April.

We are about to take our 11 and 7 year old on a Celebrity TA in March for 2 weeks. We know there won't be many children, but are hoping for at least a few. We also did a 14 night March cruise in the past and again there were only a handful of children. The children understand and are OK with the fact that they many have a lot of attention from kids club and will do some things with each other. I tried to find any other families on our TA, but couldn't.

We did RCCL over this past New Years and they had fun with the camp.

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. We were a bit concerned that the children would get bored, but it doesn't sound like that is going to happen. Of course, we'll be spending a lot of time together as a family anyway, its just nice for us to have a few hours to ourselves each day and know that the children will be looked after.

What was the weather like on your transatlantic? We're expecting it to be cool once we're north of Bermuda, but we're not sun worshippers anyway. Were the seas rough? Did you have a balcony, and if so did you use it much?

Regards
