We'll be traveling to Barbados in November 2007 and was wondering what is the weather like and what are the beaches like that time of year? Also looking to have a nice beach day. Looking for recent reviews of Boatyard beach Vs Sandy Beach. Which has the sandier beach? :-) lol no punt intended.. ))) Are there several restuarants at both and does one tend to get more crowded than the other and how much does a taxi cost from the cruise pier to those beaches? And does anyone know exactly what kind of fish is flying fish>?

We were looking for a tour guide or a tour company that does sightseeing shopping and beach but it seems most companies don't schedule their tours like that. Any suggesstions?

Are beach shoes needed at either one of those beaches? Oh, Are those beaches good for children. Are the waves/waters calm and lazy or are they a little rough for children? We want calm and relaxing waters not just for the littles but also for big kids....

Are there any places to shop around either on of those beaches? Also Are there several places to eat at sandy beach that are only aboout 10 seconds away which would mean they are in walking distance. Which beach is larger Sandy or Boatyard?

Also does anyone know what the weather is like in November, aroune the 7th of November to be exact. Is it swim like weather?

Hi Pinkaboo, our group of 13 (ages 2 to 71) were on a cruise mid December and we also had 1 day in Barbados (my absolute favourite island by the way!!) At first we were heading to the Boatyard but just before we left, changed our minds and choose Accra Beach. Great time. We sailed with Royal Caribbean, a bus shuttle went constantly from ship to terminal. We were at the 'terminal' by 9:30 that morning - lots of shopping inside the terminal building but we saved that for the return. Grabbed a taxi that held 9 of us and cost $7.50 per person each way from ship to Accra. We asked the driver to pick us up at 3:00 and we only had to pay him when he returned.

Accra Beach is great. Chairs were $5.00 each if you want them. We were there early enough that the older in our crowd had their chairs set up under the huge trees. The beach is so clean, so fine - it's awesome. Although most Bdos beaches are super. Reason we decided on Accra is choice of food - there are a couple of little kiosks right there for food (flying fish sandwich yummy), Chefette's is right across the road (fast food-burgers, fries, etc). There is also a small playground fenced off at one end of the parking lot as well as Quayside Mall across the street and just 3-4 buildings down from Chefette. It's more like a small strip mall with a bit of a food court in the back. The water at Accra is a wee bit 'wavey' - the 7 year old in our group loved it. She was out to her chest and having a ball being gently lifted up and down with the waves. The parents of the 2 year old had him at each beach we were at and he seemed to have a blast as well. He loved digging holes and sitting in them in the wet sand. We were all really happy with our choice of Accra. Whatever you choose, I know you'll enjoy it!
