We will be going in a few days and not sure if we want to snorkel, if we do not purchase a shore excursion through the ship for snorkeling can we rent the equipment once we get on shore and if we can how much would it cost?

You can rent snorkel equipment when you get on the beach - but it's the same price as booking the equipment ahead of time on the boat. Either way, you're paying Royal Caribbean, since it's their private island. :) The price is listed on their website but I think that it's around $30.

If you have your own equipment, bring it! I think they will let you use the required snorkel vest (if you don't have one) for free or for a reduced price.
