SillyaboutSailing Posted February 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2007 Willing be visiting St. Maarten and wanted to go snorkeling. I know that the snorkeling is not that great but hoping to find some fish. Has anyone ever taken a day trip to Creole Rock and snorkeled? How is the fish life/coral? Thanks! MamaParrotHead Posted February 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2007 I went out on the Atlantis glass-bottomed boat ride from Grand Case to Creole Rock. I can tell you it wasn't that spectacular. There was mainly ONE kind of fish (Sargent Majors) and that's IT. The tour guide said it was because they were kind of at the top of the food chain in that area. We did see an occasional tiny squid or puffer fish, but nothing real colorful or too interesting.
SillyaboutSailing Posted February 10, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Thanks for the input. I was afraid that was going to be the case as we have not had great success on the Eastern vs Western Carribean.
kates70 Posted February 15, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2007 i just recently snorkeled there in november 06. reef wasn't great ... and the current was incredibly strong about half way around the island. was fine when i set out, but current changed really quickly. don't give up on eastern caribbean, i think st john has the some of best snorkeling in the caribbean.
