Legend 1/27

Just back from the Southern Caribbean cruise on the Legend. It was a wonderful cruise.

We took the Cruise Connection bus from Ft. Myers and arrived in Ft. Lauderdale about 11:30. The gates were not open yet. Had to wait about half an hour. The lines moved quickly and were cleared before our cabin was ready. Went to the Lido deck for lunch. After lunch we were told we could go to our cabin. Dropped off our carry-on and headed for sailaway. It was a beautiful warm day and really enjoyed the scenery.

Our cabin was very clean and our steward Susan met us and was very accomodating the whole trip. Kept the ice bucket filled and opened the refrigerator so we could keep drinks cold. The ship was very clean.

The food was very good with the exception of the steak. Ordered it twice and it was tough both times. The ribs and veal parm were excellent. The set up on the Lido deck was too confusing. They had several food stations scattered around and we had to go to each one to see what they had. People would stop to ask where we got some food because it was different from where they went. I would suggest you walk around to all the stations before getting in line.

The ship rode very smoothly. I expected to feel a lot of vibration and swaying. It was so calm I didn't need my Bonine. It was a beautiful ride. Spent a lot of time on our balcony just enjoying the sound of the waves. So relaxing.

We did not take a tour in St. Maarten, just browsed in the shops. In St. Lucia took a tour with Cosol. It was about five hours. We saw much more than if we had gone with the Carnival tour. We sampled different foods and he had cold drinks(soda, beer, rum punch and water) at no charge. I would recommend this tour to anyone. In St. Kitts we toured with Themsford Gray. He took us around the whole island. St. Kitts is beautiful. Very clean and lush. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The four sea days were wonderful. Just a very relaxing time. The shows were OK. I've seen better but still enjoyed them.

I could go on and on, but I'm sure some other fellow passengers will fill in what I've left out.

I highly recommend this cruise. It just ended too quickly. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

It's nice to hear you enjoyed the Legend. We had just gotten off her, as you were lining up to get on, and we had such a wonderful time we've already booked her sistership the Miracle for the Southern Caribbean itinerary, when she switches out with the Legend.

Could you please tell me what the shopping is like at the different ports, as we just had a very excursion heavy trip, and plan to take our next cruise at a more leisurely pace...a beach here....a shop or 2 or 3 or 4 there.. :p

Have you booked your next cruise yet...if not I give you week. LOL We were home less than 3 hours, and I was barely unpacked when hubby asked where I wanted to cruise to next year! We booked the Liberty, and then decided we loved the Legend, so we chose her sistership.

We just got home from the Legend Monday. We arrived in Ft Lauderdale to complete chaos. We didn't get in til almost 12:30. They had us circle the lines a couple times. I have never gone in and out twice. We thought we were in Disney World. We arrived there at 10:30. It took us almost 2 hours to get thru to the Lido Deck. Then we had lunch. I was wondering what floor you were on. We were on the 8th floor. Panorama Deck. Boat rocked the whole week. We had friends on the 6th floor with a suite. She said the same thing. Other couple we were with were on the 5th floor. All of us said the same thing. I am so glad I had on my sea sick patch. I wouldn't have made it. Even at dinner, our table was moving. I was reading your review. I was thinking what ship was she on. Then I saw the same one I was on. When we were walking around, it was ok. Even the dinner club, our table was moving. Even when we were in line, the lady behind me told me how much she loved the Legend. It was her 3rd time on this ship. She said she loved the rocking. I told her she was crazy. Ship was beautiful. Food was good. Supper Club was excellent. My husband had steak once and it was good. Veal Parm was good. Service was great! Casino was pretty good but very smokey. If you got there early, it was okay but later on, it was awful. We went on a tour of St Maarten. We have been there 7 times but wanted something different. We picked someone this time outside the gate. She gave us a good tour for 3 hours. We were on a mountain and did see a lady get run over. Be careful up there if you are going. Cars come whipping around the corner. It took 5 people to pick up the lady . They put her down on the outside. Ambulance was coming up the hill when we were leaving. We saw the Water fall and some valcanic ash tour. Then we saw a beach with nude people. I was talking pictures of the beach. Other side of rock were nude people. No pictures. I didn't try anyway. Some of the scenery was pretty. Weather was great. Left on Sunday to pouring rain. Airport was awful . We were in Ft Lauderdale til 7:30. Flights were late. No one even announced it was delayed. Finally got off the ground late. Got into Charlotte late and missed connecting flight. She told us to go to connecting gates and catch our flights. Planes had just taken off. Stuck in Charlotte all nite. US Airways has gone down the tubes. Everyone was complaining. They did nothing to help all the people that were stuck all nite. No compensation! They should have told us we missed the connecting flights. They did the cowards way out. Very unhappy with them. Sorry I am rambling on. Got home yesterday afternoon. Will be writing a letter to the Conusmer Affairs.

ooulio- Sorry you had such a rough trip. We were on the fifth floor middle of the ship. There was very little rocking. We got the middle because we were told that was the best spot. Last year we were on the Triumph on the Panorama deck and found the ship rocked a lot. I think the location means a lot.

When we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale there was a long line, but it moved rather quickly. No complaints there.

The casino was crowded in the evening. We went in the afternoon and there were very few people then.

On the same trip. Love the Legend. No rocking (middle of the boat), food pretty good, very smokey casino, raves to camp carnival.

Didn't do any carnival excursions - beached it totally. St. Marteen took water taxi to beach (recommended by one of the waiters) - pretty good - very cheap and nice - powder sand. St. Lucia went to Rodney Bay/Reduit Beach - Fabu! St. Kitt's - now this is a different story - DO NOT TAKE THE WATER TAXI from the pier. It was a cigarette boat - I had kids - beach was very dirty - no one was pleased. I am sure St. Kitts is lovely and look forward to my next time - I will do something different.

Wow, hard to believe we were on the same ship, ooulio! This was our fourth cruise, second on the Legend and it was BY FAR the smoothest cruise we have had. We couldn't get over it. I haven't even felt the "swaying" that I usually have post cruise. We were in cabin 7289, Verandah deck. We spoke with a couple that were on the second leg of a B2B and they said the previous week had cruddy weather and rough seas. They were so happy that the seas were so calm. I never noticed our dinner table moving, where was your table?

I agree that FLL was a zoo. I believe there were 9 or more ships in port that day, so we expected it to be busy. We also had airline problems, flight was delayed (due to weather concerns) which meant we would miss our connecting flight. Next flight was at 9 the next morning. My DH talked to the ticket agents and was able to get us onto a different airline, we finally left FLL at 8:45PM after having been there since 1:00PM. On top of all that, our lugguge didn't make it until 5PM the next day. But you know what? We laughed and stayed calm and spent a little more time with our CC friends at the airport. :)

We had an aft wrap balcony and there were times when we could definitely feel the ship rocking. However, when we were midships, like in the casino, we felt almost no movement.

This was our third time on the Legend, but the first time I think the captain actually had the stabilizers on. Three cheers for Capt. Marchetti! You can almost always count on it being a little rough cutting across the Straits of Florida toward the Bahamas. Also, coming back through the Bahamas can get a little bouncy. The night before we got back in to FLL, I stayed out on our balcony until almost 2:30 AM, watching the parade of ships following us back to port. It was an amazing sight, especially with a Fantasy class ship right behind us. Anyhow, I had just turned in, and I don't know whether the wind picked up or what, but it got extremely rough all of a sudden. In fact, it jolted me awake. I sat bolt upright, as it felt like we had run over a Volkswagon or something! I still don't know what happened, but I suspect a pretty big wave.

I always wear the patch, and I was glad I had it, but all in all, this was one of the smoothest voyages on the Legend we've experienced.
