Fact vs. Postings

After reading this board for months and having just returned from the Spirt(2-3-07) I would like to point out some posting errors.

You can not get playing cards free from the putsers desk, you must buy them in the casino for $1.00 a pack.

You can not enter the dining room more than 20 mins late. Wrong,I saw people enter 30-45 mins late and it did not throw service. We had our entries while they had soup, we had dessert while they had salad.

There are no waffles in the dining room for breakfast.

They do not enforse the adults only hot tub.

They do not enforce the baby in diapers in the pools.

Pizza, ceaser salad, and warm melting cake.

If this was your first cruise or if you are from a area with no good resterants I'm sure you would think they were great.

Pizza lacked flavor and had a cardboard tasteing crust.

Ceaser salad was nothing more than wilted greens, rock hard curtons and parm cheese. This was in the dining room, room service and the supper club.

Warm melting cake, get over it folks,I can make better a home.

These were some of the items posted that were not quite right. The wealth of imformation on this board is great and I'm looking forwerd to reading posting about the Legend for our July cruise.

Thank-you and always cruise happy.

In almost every case, with the possible exception of the issue with the cards, that all can vary from cruise to cruise or even person to person. I'm sure there will be plenty of posters to reply, stating they have received the items in question or loved the food (which is the most subjective part of any cruise, I think).

Hope you have a great Legend cruise! Looking into making that our next one! :)

Whether or not you can show up late for dinner, it is inconsiderate to arrive 30-45 minutes late, as it forces the servers to make adjustments.

The food issues you encountered are a matter of personal preference. You are certainly entitled to not enjoy something, but its a bit off-putting to tell people to get over something that a lot of them like.

Its been discussed many times here that they do not always enforce the hot tub and babies in the pools policies, so I don't think people are being mislead. Countless reviews and discussions make mention of this.

Sorry if your cruise did not live up to your expectations. Hopefully the next one will!

SOMETIMES FACT They do not enforse the adults only hot tub. Depends on the ship and who is paying attention.

SOMETIMES FACT They do not enforce the baby in diapers in the pools. Same as above.

YOUR OPINION Pizza lacked flavor and had a cardboard tasteing crust.

MY OPINION Pizza was very good, especially the goat cheese or pepperoni.

YOUR OPINION Ceaser salad was nothing more than wilted greens, rock hard curtons and parm cheese.

MY OPINION My greens were not wilted, croutons were 'ok', dressing was exceptional, IMO.

YOUR OPINION Warm melting cake, get over it folks,I can make better a home.

MY OPINION Warm melting cake was perfect. Maybe it can be made at home, but who cares?, it's one of the best desserts we've had.

You sound grumpy, but thanks for straightening us all out.

Mike

It also depends on the sailing.

On MANY cruises, showing up 45 minutes late DOES throw the service off, not to mention it is down right RUDE!!! I have never seen anyone say that you COULDN'T enter more than 20 minutes late, only that you shouldn't.

I've tried to correct people on the playing cards thing, but some don't listen...

I have seen MANY times the adults pool/hot tub and diapers rule being enforced... so to say that it is not true, well.. that is inaccurate. Perhaps on YOUR cruise... also, if it's not being enforced, I alert security. Theycan't be everywhere at all times.

As for the food... that is subjective and varies cruise to cruise. The pizza is certainly better than RCL, but is it the best i've ever had? Of course not... the caesar salad, same thing... warm chocolate melting cake, I could go either way, it's no big deal.

Things vary cruise to cruise, sailing to sailing. What might not have been true on one particular cruise, doesn't make it a fact ;)

~I have a deck of free playing cards sitting at my desk right now.

~sure you can enter the dining room late but it is very rude and holds up your dining partners that are polite and will wait for you to begin eating.

~Most of the time the no kids & diaper rule is not inforced, it is up to the fellow passengers to speak up about is, instead if just whinning about it.

~Pizza can be better on some ships than others but i have never had crust that tasted like cardboard, if you don't like it don't eat it.

~A vacation is a time to relax with no worries, not a time to knit pick over everything.

~some people would be better off vacationing in the safety of their own home.

~just my opinion and does not refect on any certain person:)

My homemade pizza is out of this world...none better. But when I'm on the cruise, I'm not cooking...so their pizza tastes great to me.

If your warm chocolate melting cake is better than Carnival's, I'm going to have to have a taste test to make sure.;) Get over it might be a tad harsh.

I hate when my tablemates show up late:mad: On our last cruise one couple was always 10-15 minutes late. Don't be rude to the staff, or the passengers.

I don't like the caesar because it tastes like fish.

I think Carnival has some great food! There are plenty of good restaurants where I come from, and I am an oustanding cook. Again, I'm not cooking, or cleaning. There is always the turkey, bacon sandwich from room service if I don't like what they served for dinner.

I'm always a happy cruiser!:D

Oh, and I have decks, and decks of free carnival cards.

If you thought Carnivals food was bad...Don't ever sail Princess/HAL

I also received playing cards from the purser on our Alaskan cruise last june.

Pizza is good not the best but good.

The salad has always been fresh and they have a very good dressing.

Don't use the pools or come in late for meals so can't comment there.

I know you came on to just make comments about what you expected to have but be ready to be flamed by the CCL boosters club.

One only need read of "Ricky's encounter" with violators in the S&S 2.5 thread to know this is true. OMG I am still laughing about that!!!!!

I have to strongly agree here. My wife and I got two FREE decks from the pursers desk on the Pride and my wife also got two FREE decks from the pursers desk on the Paradise. You just have to ask. If you get them from the casino they will charge you one dollar.

The Pizza on every cruise we've been on has been good so far. We've never had pizza that tasted like cardboard.

From what the OP stated I can't tell if he/she enjoyed the cruise or not. The objective of any vacation is to relax and enjoy yourself. Don't sweat the small stuff.

BTW, we had made the Melting Chocolate Cake at home and had it at a Mexican restaurant here in Southern California named Acapulcos. The cake on the ship was as good if not better than what we made or got from the restaurant.

If you go in determined to find fault with something, chances are you'll succeed.

On the playing cards thing... from what I understand, they discontinued doing this recently (now they send you to the casino, there is a sign at the cashier stand that says "Playing cards- $1.00)... They were free in October, but in January they weren't. I'm sure if the pursers desk still has some, perhaps they will give them to you, but from what I gather, they discontinued this and are now charging a buck... a lousy buck, pretty close to free, LOL

I too thought the pizza was wonderful on my cruise last July on the Pride. The varieties were great and the specialty ones were interesting and also tasted good. The flavor combinations were great.

The comment about the pizza though begs a question. When someone describes that the crust tasted like cardboard, what does that mean? Does that mean that they actually eat cardboard and that they found a comparison between the pizza and the cardboard flavors? I doubt it, but it makes me wonder sometimes when I read things like this.

Now, all of you CC members...STOP posting Lies!!!!!!:p  I, for one, cannot figure out why it is that each of you (and, i guess myself included), needs to fill these boards with these CCL Cheerleading-type false statements. :D
