What to do on the ship when on it?

I make reservations for specialty dining rooms, eat (often one of the dining rooms is open so you don't have to "buffet it"), explore the ship, have a drink (or a couple), bout that time the muster drill will take place. Then sail away, prepare for dinner, figure out what shows to go to that evening---party

Don't worry, you'll find lots to keep you occupied. It's amazing how quickly those few hours pass.

Explore the ship, book spa/restaurant reservations, tour the spa and buy the spa pass.

We check our stateroom for luggage arrival and try to unpack before muster (if we're lucky and our bags are there:D ). Get a drink, introduce ourselves to the folks who will make our cruise special (butler, cabin stewards, concierge) and then comes the best part of all.

JUST BEING HAPPY!

Go up to to our room, ooh and aah over it, look over the freestyle daily and any other notes in the room, attempt to unpack but realize I'm too hungry to unpack, go to the buffet, explore the ship (making sure to check out the casino), go back to the room and unpack/chill before the muster drill and sailaway.

Of course, one of the first things you will want to do is get something to eat. A well-kept secret is that if you arrive during lunchtime (generally 12:00 to 1:30), the main dining room is usually open. The ship's crew will all direct you upstairs to the buffet, but if you know which of the rooms is the one that will serve breakfast and lunch (in addition to dinner), try that and see if they are open. We had a lovely meal while still in port, then went up to our room before the muster drill. It's more relaxing than wandering through a new and confusing buffet when you're tired from travelling.

HI Dufferin......Went on the Dawn for the first time last Sept. with 3 of my sisters. :)

We had lunch at the Venetian after boarding.

Went to our suite....checked out our living quarters which were magnificent (imagine 4 grown women squealing all over the place, like kids in a candy shop), figured out dinner reservations for the week, unpacked, and read all notices left in our room.

Then we explored the ship for the first time....more than magnificent. Took our time, strolled all over the ship. One sis had been on the Dawn before so she was our official tour guide. ;)

Went back to our room for a couple drinks, before and during sail away.

Sail away was the most magnificent experience, sailing out of NY! Amazing views!

Relaxed awhile. Got ready for our first dinner on board. I think it was Impressions....beautiful and so relaxing.

Lovely, lovely day.....and the greatest way to begin a vacation.

ENJOY!!! :D It will be one of the most memorable days of your life.

Ok. So..

Lets say you boardat 12 and the ship doesnt l;eave till 4:30. What do YOU do?

Not on the Dawn, but what we did was get a bite to eat, explore the ship, check our room out, read any informationals left in our room, make sure we knew where we were going for our muster drill, pull out the adult life preservers for the muster drill, muster drill, put away the life preservers, put on heavy coats (it was January) for the sail away, stand outside with baited breath waiting for the ship to pull away from the dock. :D

Have a wonderful time!

Teri
